Republicans stage "Get Motivated" business seminar.. is really GOP Town Hall Ripoff...
Edited on Tue Jan-25-11 07:45 PM by lib2DaBone
Rudy Giuliani..Laura Bush.. Colin Powell.. invited 8000 people to a "free motivational business seminar". But wait a minute...

You can bet your life that the big push was not "motivation" .. but GOP propaganda.

Once the crowds arrived.. they were told that the free (or $9.95 special group tickets) to see Rudy and Laura Bush and Colin Powell was really $225.... and if you want the special books or seminar tapes... well, you can fill in the blanks.

Poor litle Freepers... lined up to see these jerks.. and then they complain when they get ripped off... "Wow.. I really wanted to hear what Laura Bush has to say... waiting on pins and needles..."

:puke:

Get Motivated, the celebrity-laden seminar that landed in Estero on Tuesday, gave a shot of optimism and hope to a populace coping with 12 or 13 percent unemployment, a chronically depressed housing market and a struggling tourism industry.

True to its name, the Get Motivated business seminar whipped its audience into a can-do frenzy at Estero’s Germain Arena during the first day of a two-day stop in Southwest Florida. Starting at 8 a.m., a sold-out audience of roughly 8,000 people heard from the likes of Rudy Giuliani, Laura Bush and Colin Powell, with a few lesser-known motivational speakers sprinkled in. An overflow audience of 500 people watched a satellite feed from Harborside Event Center in Fort Myers.

Some leave 'Get Motivated' seminar disappointed

Those attending the Get Motivated event at Germain Arena have heard speeches from famous leaders like Rudy Giuliani, but many who showed up to the event didn't get to hear a single word. Despite having tickets to the event, many say they were turned away.

Those who showed up late were not allowed inside, even if they had a ticket.

"We came today and it's totally, no seats available," said ticket holder Carol Ann Smoragiewicz.

Seats did open up as afternoon wore on, but tickets were $225. Most who pre-paid only paid $1.95.

"Just like the airlines. Some people pay $99 for their round trip ticket and others pay $1,000," said Brian Forte, SVP Get Motivated Seminars.
