Unconditional Surrender
We should have had last night's debate on a carrier out in the Pacific. Then they could officially have surrendered in the same manner as the Japanese at the end of WWII.

If you think it was not a surrender, then you are not thinking very deeply.

The Japanese were able to rebound after their surrender and become one of the economic giants in the world, mostly due to the good will of the American people and their allies. I doubt that the Democratic Party will get such good will from the Republicans?

It doesn't take too much foresight to see what the next campaign will look like. The President says he will let the taxcuts expire. The Repubs will say that we cannot raise taxes on anyone when the economy is so fragile, even if in recovery. The same debate happens all over again. The President wants to raise your taxes. And you think he can win against that the next time?

Our President is a composite of LBJ and Jimmy Carter in the eyes of the Republicans. He is leading us in a very unpopular war, like LBJ, which will be even more unpopular two years from now. And the economy, like the inflation under Carter, will be his calling card in 2012. Good luck on winning with that hand.

But, never mind foresight. The new President will already have been elected when the decision must be made to let the SS payroll tax expire, as well as the middle class taxcuts. Even if President Obama is re-elected, if the Democratic numbers remain very near the same as today, his veto would be over-ridden. It's going to be interesting.

The Democratic Party has its head on the chopping block. Thanks to everyone that contributed to its demise.

1. The Japanese surrendered to a vastly superior force
with atomic weapons.

The current White House surrendered without a shot to a minority party.

4. Why are you trying to change the subject?
Are you having a difficult time dealing with the present? Must we deal in hypotheticals?

13. Not trying to change the subject
I want to encourage people to get a paper bag and breathe into it. It helps with hyperventilation.
I'm dealing with the present. The OP is dealing in hypotheticals..."Obama wants to raise your taxes."

18. Here is a question to you, do you believe like Obama does that "Everything is Negotiable"?
Edited on Fri Dec-17-10 11:37 AM by Bandit
I am positive that neither McCain nor Palin believe that so it must be a good thing right?

5. Why do y'all do that?
Every damn time somebody posts a word against Obama, somebody else shows up to accuse them of wanting Republicans in power.

All some of us want is real Democrats. Cut it the fuck OUT, already.

8. I can't see how it could have been worse. At least most folks
here would be in opposition. Now, most "liberals" on this board support what the ruling class is doing to the poor and working class. At least with the Republicans you know what they really intend - with this bunch of Democrats, you have to learn their intentions the hard way...

6. Someone needs to take Obama out for karaoke
Edited on Fri Dec-17-10 11:13 AM by demwing
and teach him the lyrics to the Kenny Rodgers song "The Gambler," because the Prez simply does not "Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em".

He's clueless oat that level. He's got "MARK" written all over his face...

10. Yeah, President Obama should take lessons from Kenny Rogers...
maybe he can learn the art of negotiation from a guy who has been married 5 times and who ran a failed chain of chicken restaurants.

21. Yes, based on his negotiations, Obama could learn a thing or two from that song
and I don't know if that's funny, or just fucking sad.

9. Japan rebounded because their conquerors believed in the Marshall Plan.
Our conquerors despise the Marshall Plan, they follow the Chicago School of Economics (most recent example: Iraq).

16. The Japanese surrender ceremony took place aboard a battleship in Tokyo Bay.
Not aboard a carrier 'out in the Pacific.'
