I am thrilled beyond measure that it is an obvious "girl" who has been put in charge of the pack of men on MSNBC's post speech discussion.

GO RACHEL

Is it just me, or do we see something pretty new and amazing here, something that is being handled so beautifully and seamlessly by all involved, that it has escaped detection so far?!?

(Yes, of course I miss Keith tonight, but that's not what this is about)

6. She was superb,
and graciously deferred to Tweety now and then, who seemed a trifle miffed that he didn't get that center seat.

Smart AND classy.

Where the Goddess closes a door, she opens a window. Or a ceiling.

10. no, we don't see anything new at all. you seem to think having maddow as one of the talking heads
at msnbc = feminist coup.

don't know why you would think so.

11. Did you see it? She was not ONE of them, she was RUNNING it,
gently, firmly, and with obvious sanction of the network and the co-operation of all the men; she was in charge of the whole post speech discussion.

Or am I misunderstanding your comment?

14. you've never seen a female talking head lead a talking head discussion?
i really don't understand why you think this is earth-shattering.

not trying to be snarky, i just don't get it.

12. although I understand what you are saying (and agree), I cannot help but wonder why you are using
the word "girl" to refer to rachel (and yourself, if you are over the age of 18)

a "girl" is a female child. if you accept being called a girl, you accept being treated as a child.

13. I am SO HAPPY for her.
And not just A Woman, but one who has no bleach-blonde job and no short skirts and pantyhose, and is openly lesbian. It's not about her sexual appeal to men while reading off a teleprompter. It's about her knowledge, experience, intelligence, wit, and guts.

This may be the first time in American news TV that a woman has ever truly been judged on some of the same criteria as men--and she ranked very well, of course.
