there wasn't a laundry list of red meat thrown out to the base.

It was more of the beginning of a discussion tonite. A discussion on how to move this country forward.

I thought it was well done. Salmon and all.

1. Red meat is for children.
Balance is for adults.

4. The problem is that everybody has an issue...
and everybody wants a long speech on their issue but there isn't enough time for every issue the way that the media pundits and others want him to talk about a certain issue.

6. Well said.
I liked it for what it's worth. Obama backed his speech with real life examples.

The two Republican responses were nothing but regurgitated talking points.

13. me too
you usually do that to set your agenda year 1. Here's what I'm gonna do. In year 3, it makes it sound like you haven't done anything. He really could have used tonight to sell his agenda he's already been doing.

8. Based on the polls "most" people loved the speech. 85% CNN, 82% CBS etc.
Seems like we have 90% of the 8% that didn't like the speech.

10. Red meat is the least of my concerns. Its the embracing of a broken economic system
and failed ideology that bugs me.

The people are fucked and getting more fucked by the day. The same old bullshit with a bit more elbow grease isn't going to help us. It is a lie or fiction at best.

We refuse to admit much less resolve issues and I find it offensive at this stage in the game.

We don't even have red meat any way. Our substitute is telling the truth about the opposition and actually saying what we believe.

12. I thought Obama was was great
and the behavior was more subdued there. I see it as a circus.

11. I think because it sounded like a 1st year president
and less like a guy coming off two productive years as president. His rhetoric gets in the way of pointing out what he did, what he will do and why he's doing it.

14. I thought he accomplished what is most needed right now:
projecting himself as a leader of the nation, rather than of a party or parties.
