SOTU. You are an American. Do it yourself.
Did I get that right? Is that the gist? I am in the GREATEST country on the planet. Go do it myself...job, insurance, stuff like that, and oh, we don't have any cash to help you. So don't ask.

And that's supposed to be an insight to your soul.

17. Please make this an OP.
Or I will and I will give you credit if you don't want to deal with the "fall out."

You are exactly correct. This was very much a "Rorschach Test" as to the types of Democrats within the party and posting at DU.

10. Today it is more like.
Ask not what your corporation can do for you ... ask what you can buy for your corporation.

Corporation, country. Very little difference anymore anyways.

5. We are going to have to work harder, smarter, and better to out compete the markets.
These markets are supported by terrible policies like NAFTA.... Americans work hard and smarter already..... We need to be respected now with policies that protect us from outsourcing our jobs...

23. Absolutely right!
Productivity by American workers is at a maximum. Many people are doing the work of two, three, or more people by past standards. Many workers are seeing cuts or pay freezes at the same time. Meanwhile, profits are great for the big corporations and they are sitting on surpluses of cash.

Working any harder will only tend to burn-out those who do have jobs. Working smarter will probably increase automation and efficiency so that less employment will result.

The real problems are not being addressed and reality, (and our real, immanent crises) is not being acknowledged in so very many ways that this seems to be a road to disaster that is disguised as a Disney ride.

7. Sure, if that's what you WANTED to hear.
:eyes:

What are you talking about re jobs? You mean you don't want to find your own job?

What do you mean about insurance? What aspect of insurance was explained as "do it yourself"?

"We don't have any cash to help you"...with what?

11. Mad that there are no handouts?
I don't follow what point you're obviously struggling to make.

This country was made great by individuals stepping up to the challenge.

But you want that to stop?

I'm lost here.
