Obama on social security from SOTU
Edited on Tue Jan-25-11 11:53 PM by Cant trust em
To put us on solid ground, we should also find a bipartisan solution to strengthen Social Security for future generations. We
must do it without putting at risk current retirees, the most vulnerable, or people with disabilities; without slashing benefits for
future generations; and without subjecting Americans' guaranteed retirement income to the whims of the stock market.

1. Lots of words, signifying jack shit

Its not rocket surgery, just raise the cap and nothing else needs to be done.

Instead we get a tap dance designed to placate people so they wont notice the DC elites plan on raiding the SS trust fund to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy.

2. He wants to cut SS for those under retirement age.
Only thing that makes all of those words make sense.

4. Yep, and nevermind they've paid into it for many years
Those tax cuts are sacrosanct in DC.

6. If a person hasn't retired yet, then why do they take SS?
I'm still pretty young, so I have no idea how this works.

9. "Without slashing benefits for future generations"
You must mean, "all the words except those".

10. You are such an expert on what Obama wants. (Actually that's what Paul Ryan wants)
And Ryan pretty much said that in his rebuttal

7. Fuck bipartisanship on Social Security
That just means that when the Repukes try to destroy it, Obama will come up with a milder attack on it that will be hailed as a compromise and the best that could be done under the circumstances.
