2. In the case of my dad's truck...
...nothing catastrophic. Just a problem with rust protection on the undercarriage, I think.

5. If the quality and design continue to improve, I'd consider a Ford for the first time in 2 decades.

I never thought they'd surpass GM, but they have. They've done a phenomenal job of coming back.

You still couldn't pay me to take a bottom of the barrel Chrysler or Jeep.

4. Toyotas have always been rust-buckets. My dad has had problems with corrosion and so have I
I drove my 1982 Corolla to the junkyard, b/c the two shock mounts in my trunk had rusted completely through. My old Celica was rusty and my Dad's '96 Camry had paint/corrosion problems.

Toyota has always had little quality annoyances, but their styling these days is hideous. And you've got to wonder what kind of company makes a $385,000 sports car, but doesn't have a reasonable sports car in its main Toyota lineup. There's nothing... no Celica, no MR2, no Supra. Nothing. The CEO said he was ashamed of that fact.

Nissan and Infiniti get our dollars.

8. This is more or less a 'standard' recall process ....
In the previous Toyota disaster, Toyota simply denied any responsibility and there was no recall .... THAT was the scandal ....

This is actually public rehabilitation for them .... People can now see them doing the 'right thing' ...

They are still assholes for fucking around last time around ....
