Loughner Researched Political Assassins, Lethal Injection Before Shooting
Edited on Wed Jan-26-11 12:18 PM by jtown1123
Loughner researched lethal injection before Tucson shooting, sources say

By Sari Horwitz
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, January 26, 2011; 11:42 AM

In the weeks and days before the shooting rampage in Tucson, suspect Jared Lee Loughner surfed the Internet on his computer in what investigators believe was an effort to prepare for his alleged assassination attempt, law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation said.

Loughner pulled up several Web sites about lethal injections and solitary confinement in prison, said the sources, who asked to be anonymous because the investigation is ongoing. He also viewed Internet sites about political assassins, according to an analysis of Loughner's computer that was completed by investigators last week, the sources said.

1. Mentally ill but not insane
Well this sure makes the case for premeditation and blows away the veneer of an insanity defense. Let the chips fall where they may.

3. "POLITICAL assassins"
The RW can wiggle and spin, and try to hide, but the facts of this case will become...facts. A "political assassin" attempts to eliminate his percieved foe, not one who supports his "cause". He obviously identified with the right wingnuts.

4. There are all kinds of crazy
There is crazy like the space aliens tell you what to do, and there is crazy like half the people arrested for a violent crime.

5. Too many don't get the distinction...
From my POV, there's something seriously wrong with anyone who can inflict bodily harm, or death, on another.

Some guy set his girlfriend on fire about a mile from my house just days before the Tucson shooting. That's just nucking futs.

10. And... you came to this conclusion because...
I'm curious, do you know anything about the incident?

I don't. However, I do know that sometimes, when girlfriends try to leave boyfriends, all the crazy hits the fan and the girlfriends end up injured or dead.
And sometimes visa versa. Doesn't mean the one who has the bad stuff happen to them deserved it or that they're crazy.

19. Sorry if I misunderstood what you wrote
I thought what you wrote was that the girlfriend was a nut.

You wrote in #7 :

"Sounds like the girlfriend ...

... was fucking a nut."

I did read everything, but I still don't understand. That's why I was asking for clarification. Thank you for helping me understand what you wrote.

9. But organized military forces
that are trained and instructed to murder strangers are A-okay in the head?

Was Loughner insane?

Are soldiers told to kill total strangers insane?

15. From my POV...
The military are trained to be killers, and I just don't see how a fully rational feeling human being can kill another. I think the good ol' USA is mind fucking those who ordinarily wouldn't be able to do such a thing. Loughner isn't right; insane is a call that must be made by professionals. But he ain't right.

Joan Baez is my hero. During the Vietnam era, she worked very hard to convince people NOT to go to war, NOT to register for the draft, and NOT to enlist. She was arrested many times. She'd get out, go home, shower, eat, sleep, and go back and start all over again. Non-violence means that much to her. I aspire to be that way.

with the nutso theory. Why can't people who are violent be sane?

11. someone who is mentally ill can target, plan, and execute a plan
Do you think John Hinkley was mentally healthy? Son of Sam? Charles Whitman, the Texas sniper, was found to have a brain tumor that may have contributed to his behavior, but his actions were premeditated and carefully planned.

20. There goes the insanity defense. Not only was the attack premeditated but Loughner knew the

consequences of his actions. Because he freakin' googled them. Wow. Just wow. Crazy stuff...

23. I believe in this state
that is what it comes down to. I recall, shortly after 9/11, a man murdered a store clerk who happened to be a Sikh. His defense was the insanity but it fell apart when cameras showed him speeding away shortly after the act. That behavior indicated that he knew that what he was doing was wrong.

I think looking up "lethal injection" indicates that he knew what he was about to do was wrong.
