Another broken promise? (The Windfall Tax on Big Oil) |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-26-11 02:05 PM by Hubert Flottz
When will Obama place a windfall tax on the oil companies, like he promised he would during the campaign? The price of Gasoline is headed back toward the four dollar a gallon mark and not a single word about the windfall tax yet. The oil companies can wreck the economy again by pushing up prices on every item consumers need to survive. When the cost of fuel goes up the price of everything else does too. Four dollar a gallon gasoline will reverse any real "improvements to the economy" Obama's crew might have made since Bush left town. Are Big Oil and the Wall Street Traitors trying to help the GOP see to it that Obama fails?
The Government could use those windfall taxes to offset the cost of the renewal of the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy.

The above quote from a DUer is exactly what my problem is with many DUers....for whatever reason they think Obama can do whatever he wants....like a KING....."WHEN WILL OBAMA PLACE A ......Obama cannot place a tax on anyone....please do not forget there is a congress that first has to take action and pass a bill before OBAMA CAN PLACE A......And I hope you know that the congress Obama has to work with is one that is OIL FRIENDLY....Obama cannot simply wake up one morning and say to the country, "I am placing a windfall tax on big oil." Getting things done is not so simple especially with a congress FULL of people who only say NO NO NO NO!
Get with reality!

3. He shouldn't have promised what he couldn't deliver. |
|
Reality is trying to find enough fucking cash to buy heating oil.

10. Reality would be acknowledging that your premise that Obama can magically do things is silly |

12. Obama said that he would deliver.... |
|
on all his promses in just 2 years....as a matter of fact, the night he won the presidency he said that change would take alot of time, maybe 2 terms....By the way, not every promise Obama made is in his sole control....you never made a promise that had to be broken due to no fault of you own? I promised my daughter a movie today but then it snowed a foot and we could not get out of the house...did I break my promise to my child?

5. He hasn't even mentioned it since becoming president. |
|
In fact, there are a number of things he hasn't mentioned since becoming president. You'd think if he gave even half a damn about it, he'd at least you know, mention it.

What I'm saying is that it's pretty fucking awful that most of his actions since taking office stand in diametric opposition to what he campaigned on. Pretty fucking awful.

2. When there are 60 votes for such a windfall profits tax in the US Senate. |
|
Feel free to count them.
Actually I don't care about that--I'd much rather see the market in oil speculation reined in severely, which would end the massive price spikes. There's no actual reason oil should be so expensive. But that requires Congress too.
