4. I just discovered Fok News this week. |
|
Is Keith planning on a whole network? I did see a tweet from him before the SOTU saying he would be following Fok News. Then he said he would be commenting on, then changed it to reporting from Fok News. I thought he was kidding, just having fun, but maybe not?

but he may get his butt sued off over that. I'm pretty sure a trademark attorney would argue that this looks far too similar to the original, and it may not qualify as a parody under the law. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see high-dollar corporate hired guns come to bully KO into taking that down. He may have the courage to stand up to them, but the money for attorneys' fees will only go so far....

14. Let them try. They tried it before and were laughed out of court airc. |

I think they tried to sue Al Franken and lost. Keith would love the publicity so, let them try.

15. I think it's kind of juvenile |
|
I guess that's why I lost interest in Olbermann several years ago. His obsession with Fox News (a channel I have literally never seen in my life, save for clips on the Daily Show) started to take over everything else. It became a game. This belongs on a comedy show (though it's not really that clever). I don't mean to be a naysayer here, I'm just being honest about how quite a number of us on the left have seen this for some time.

17. Before Keith and Al Franken started to go after Fox |
|
they were considered to be a legitimate, trustworthy news channel.
Franken 'obsession' with Billo helped discredit him with a whole of sane Republicans.
What you are suggesting is that we take Fox seriously. Ridicule is what they deserve and it is very effective.
Democrats allowed Fox to take over the dialogue for nearly a decade without daring to question them.
Keith is absolutely right to make fun of them. That is what they deserve.
Maybe you don't remember how it was in 2000, 2001, 2003 etc. I blame the emergence of that network for the wars, for the refusal of other networks to speak about the stolen 2000 election and for the distractions during the Clinton administration which gripped the whole country as no one knew they should not be taking Fox seriously.
So, thanks to Al Franken, to Keith and to all those who have joined them in using the most effective means to discredit liars, make fun of them.

29. I respectfully disagree with your analysis |
|
Fox News is still the most watched of the cable news channels. I don't think MSNBC did much to put a dent in their Republican viewership at all. It just gave the rest of us a place to go to seek shelter from teh crazy. But essentially it's preaching to the choir.
I'm not saying that NO attention should be paid to their lies and tomfoolery. I'm saying that a daily dose of obsession with it does not interest me personally and furthermore takes away time from doing important kinds of reporting--like, say, explaining the details of legislation that is before Congress, bringing in real experts to discuss issues. He did a certain amount of that, but there was a lot of time spent on the personal feud with O'Reilly.

32. Yes, it is the most watched, but only by a small minority of the entire |
|
population. And nearly every Republican I know in my own family and among friends, who used to hang on their every word, are now embarrassed to admit they watch them, and are far more skeptical of what they hear on FOX. Chipping away at their credibility works, for more rational people.
For ten years they were never challenged and that led to them being viewed as credible.
Democrats decided that there was no need to respond to their lies, to 'ignore them' as well as the entire Rightwing Noise Machine, and with no one challenging the lies, there are still people who think that Iraq did have WMDs and that Iraq was the cause of 9/11.
Lies should always be corrected and allowing liars to lie for a decade very much harmed this country..

The only time I watch any of the "news" networks is on DU or the Daily Show.
I used to watch CNN all the time when it was a news channel, but now they all spend more time talking about each other than they do talking about real news.
I will start watching whichever one decides to start covering newsworthy items instead of each other. I don't expect it to happen soon!

more than one way to get the same idea across without copyright issues. he could just keep posting the variations of the image and let fox keep sending him take down notices.he`ll comply then do another.
