More signals of decline...
So was listening to Marketplace...and they're talking Davos... Where the leaders of the Economic arena no longer see this country as a leader...that is over...up to eight years ago this was the way. We were leaders.

Chalk this again to trends...

2. They are in for a shock, and sooner rather than later
Ryan scared the living daylings yestday when he uttered "diminished country." and it wasn't about turning that around. The elites know...

3. It is possible for use to be leaders again
but to many people in high positions care more about profit then being a strong, unified country.

4. That trend will accelerate in the next two years
since our fine assholes in the Senate have decided they're perfectly comfy having a few GOPs throwing hissy fits prevent most legislation and judicial appointments from going through.

Dissolving the Senate seems like a good idea at this point, since the assholes aren't going to do their jobs.

5. the point, ultimately
is how to position yourself and those you love to deal with the fall out of an empire in decline.

for most of us, that means doing the same things we would do anyway - telling our children to work hard, find something to do in life that brings them some satisfaction, find a local community, do things to make the place where you live a little better, grow your own and support local farmers as much as possible, help the poor where you live.

try to live a little more humbly in the world and appreciate your neighbor's wishes and needs as well as your own.

6. Obamas duct tape and bailing wire economic policies will hold it together
...for a few more years. Once the GOP get back in power, and it is guaranteed that they will in a two party system, the economy will completely collapse. All I can say is pay off your house before Obama is out of office.

8. Officially it may happen as soon as this summer
Watch the debt ceiling ahem discussion. The GOP will prefer to throw the Habd grenade while a dem is in power. They cannot understand that once the empire collapses the future of the US as a continental empire is not assured either.

11. “Shared Norms for the New Reality”
Geneva, Switzerland, 19 January 2011 – The World Economic Forum today presented the programme of the 41st World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. The theme of the Meeting, which will take place from 26 to 30 January, is “Shared Norms for the New Reality”. Over the five-day Meeting, over 2,500 leaders from over 100 countries will convene in Davos-Klosters, representing business, government, civil society, academia and culture.

"The shifts of political and economic power from West to East and from North to South, as well as the speed of technological innovation, have created a completely new reality. Global systems and decision models can no longer cope with the speed and complexity of all these changes. In Davos this year, instead of looking only at the aftershocks of the recent crisis, we will concentrate on defining the new reality and discuss which shared norms are required for making global cooperation possible in this new age," said Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman, World Economic Forum.

Speaking at a press conference at the World Economic Forum’s headquarters in Geneva, Schwab went on to say: "The Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, which is the only global summit to deal in a comprehensive way with all the challenges on the global agenda, will also propose ideas and solutions for the G20 process. In addition, it will mark the launch of a Risk Response Network, creating a mechanism for public and private leaders to recognize systemic risks and to mitigate them before crisis situations occur."

But it is the left.

I believe they are going to try, and mostly succeed, in a somewhat soft landing.

That said a monetary collapse will lead to the dissolution of the US... For sure.
