Purist and purism
Are these the replacement words for pony here?

1. How would that work?
A pony is a thing that some people desire. A purist is a person, not a thing that is desired. Purism is not even a word that expresses a political trend. Purism is primarily used with regard to the arts.

I'm afraid your question doesn't really make a lot of sense. You might want to try again.

3. It seems to be the new meme.
Anyone that spoke against Obama's policy decisions were told that they were just mad because they didn't get their pony.

Now they are told they are to much of a purist or their purism is getting in the way etc.

14. nonsense. I've been vocal about my opposition
to Obama's policies. No one has called me a purist.

15. Give them time.
The list on DU has gotten long and it takes them a little while to get to us all nowadays.

4. I prefer the term Marginalists. Because that's what they're really doing.
Marginalizing themselves.

5. Not really. I just noticed the shift over the last few days.
It's only a message board. You're welcome to chase me around though if you would like in an effort to piss me off. It won't work.

11. The threads you disagree with keep getting kicked.
The fact that it's you kicking them makes it that much funnier.

Starting to sound like I'm the one that struck a nerve. ;)

7. "Purist" just means being "against corporate fascism," which isn't a "sensible" position. nt

19. I think they started using it after Obama did
during his snit last week when he was complaining that we weren't all cheering about his cutting a back room deal with Republicans.

16. It is not "purist" to be appalled by the adoption of Reaganomics by the Democratic Party.
It is simply wishing that the basic core values of the Democratic Party be respected and would be safe from being whored out by a bunch of pimps and thieves.

20. Ironically, it's the yellow-dog party purists who complain most about "purists".
"I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever, in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in anything else, where I was capable of thinking for myself. Such an addiction is the last degradation of a free and moral agent. If I could not go to heaven but with a party, I would not go there at all." Thomas Jefferson to Francis Hopkinson, 1789.

"Were parties here divided merely by a greediness for office,...to take a part with either would be unworthy of a reasonable or moral man." Thomas Jefferson to William Branch Giles, 1795.

21. Anyone using those words or pony
are angry people without the words to argue. They are usually mean intentioned and without merit. Used to put people down, especially when they are already hurting. Not words or tactics any good person would use IMO.
