Twenty-Five Years Ago Today, do you remember how
Vice-President George Bush was a busy man, passing off 100 million dollars quasi-illegally,
via the new President of Honduras,
José Simón Azcona del Hoyo - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Azcona_del_Hoyo'
to circumvent US law, to the Contras.

At the same time, a decision was made to not delay the launch of the Space Shuttle ...

"Surely no issue is more important for peace in our own hemisphere, for the security of our frontiers, for the protection of our vital interests, than to achieve democracy in Nicaragua and to protect Nicaragua's democratic neighbors. This year I will be asking Congress for the means to do what must be done for that great and good cause."
Reagan: ADDRESS BEFORE A JOINT SESSION OF THE CONGRESS REPORTING ON THE STATE OF THE UNION
February 4, 1986

1. I was taking a semester off from college. One of the best things I ever did.
I needed to do that.

2. It's my birthday. I remember the Challenger explosion vividly.
I was talking to my mom on the phone and had the tv on, with the sound turned off. Dan Rather interrupted with a special bulletin, and I saw it happen without benefit of commentary.

3. I found out in Tegucigalpa, from the front page of La Prensa the next morning, with
color photographs of "Challenger" exploding, so I bought La Prensa on Jan. 29. at 6:50 a.m., sitting in Comedor La Ursula.

That day, La Prensa reports that US Vice-President George Bush accused Nicaragua of hiding its Marxist-Leninist system of government contrary to the democratic aspiration of the people. Bush, at a news conference held in the Central Bank Building in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, stated that the USA unconditionally supports the more than 20,000 men in arms, the contras, who since 1982 have tried to overthrow the regime in Nicaragua with U.S. financing and bases installed in Honduras. Bush stated that the U.S. is committed to help Honduras in its effort to defend its sovereignty and territory against the communist aggression.

A separate article about U.S. Secretary of State George Schultz's meeting in Washington, D.C. with contra leaders cites Alfonso Robelo as having said: "We can continue to fight without money, but we cannot win." He also said that it is cheaper for the U.S. to finance the contras than to intervene directly. While the Challenger article laments the accidental death of seven people other articles coldly report preplanning and prepaying to kill thousands of people.

So read La Prensa.

4. Deja DU: George Bush Sr. May Face Charges: Conspiring to Kidnap and Murder Political Activists
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x2459135

George Bush justified Ben Linder's execution saying "He was on the wrong side"

An American President offered a political excuse for mercenary terrorists killing an American citizen.
Bush advocated as justifiable the homicide of an American because he was a liberal!! We must never forget that!!!!
