You may be hearing some screams and moans emanating from Colorado's front range in the next couple of days. And those sounds will have nothing to do with either fun or politics.
Today we are sunny and in the mid 60s. On Monday we're getting snow.
Anyone with cranky bones will understand the noises.

2. weather.com's 10 day says |
|
50º high predicted for Sunday, followed by 4º low, early Monday morning.
When I was a kid my granddad used to say, "Colorado - don't like the weather? Stay a while!"

5. Yep, my grandmother said the same thing. |

Oddly, so did my neighbor in Virginia - and she was talking about Virginia. But then, she'd never been farther from home than Baltimore.

6. Beautiful day in Boulder County. |
|
Just got back from taking dog #2 to the Bark Park in Lafayette. I didn't even wear a jacket. Snow moving in on Sunday I hear. And yes, my joints and bones will be SCREAMING by the time it hits. Middle age sucks.

9. Oh, quitcherbellyaching! I remember some years back, |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-28-11 03:57 PM by SheilaT
in about 1989 or 90, when I was living in Boulder, we had a day in the low 70's and within twenty-four hours it was 20 degrees below zero. It was kind of fun sitting outside in the warm weather, knowing just how cold it was going to get. :)
What I LOVED about living in Boulder was how it would snow a whole bunch and then a couple of days later it would be back up to 60 degrees.
I love weather. I like snow, I like rain, I like warm weather, I like spring. I like winter. I like fall. I even like summer so long as it doesn't get above about 80 degrees.
edited to add a smiley so I wouldn't seem to be unsympathetic to those who will have to put up with the coming cold.

11. I agree with everything you said - Love it ALL, including wind, darkness (which isn't |
|
really weather) and I guess just the CHANGE from one to another. And... at the beginning of each season, getting a "whiff" of it coming in the air. Heaven.
I'd top out at 70 degrees, though. I'm a heat wimp. :hi:

13. And I remember skiing |
|
after lugging the skis up a hill above Idaho Springs one July when I was 15. Dramatic changes were fun back then, and I do miss the easy agility of youth. Like you, I love the different seasons -- it's the transition from one to the other that gets to be a bit irksome these days.

15. Only in Boulder county have I seen it snow when the sun is shining. |
|
It's quite beautiful. The storm slowly moves out, the sun breaks through, then bits of storm pass overhead again, dropping snow while the sun shines. This is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Today was absolutely gorgeous at 60+º with snow capped mountains in the background.
Guess we won't be seeing you much in the summer, here, huh?

During trout season I'm likely to pop up anywhere, but I do tend to stick around the northern part of the state.
And I remember with sparkling clarity the phenomenon of sunshine and snow falling; grew up in Lakewood in the 1950s and had many snowy winters with sunny days when the air seemed to glitter. Gorgeous! -

A land where you can go skiing in the morning and then come back to Denver and play 18 holes of golf in the afternoon.
And sit at outdoor cafes in January and February.
In Birkenstocks. Without socks.
DO. NOT. MOVE. HERE.

19. I'm now in Santa Fe which is, if possible, even |
|
better than Boulder. Less snow, and when it does snow the roads have generally melted off by 10am.
In Boulder I lived in the Table Mesa area, and had a lovely view of the Flatirons from the front yard. A year and a half ago my younger son, who was just turned three when we moved away, was there for an Ultimate Frisbee tournament, and because he couldn't recall Boulder at all, was totally impressed by how gorgeous it is. It's the only place I've ever been to, let alone lived in, that looks exactly like the picture post cards. I decided I should take up saying the reason I divorced my husband was because he moved me from Boulder to Kansas.

We have a saying in NC. If you don't like the weather here, just wait a couple days. It will be the opposite.
Enjoy your warmth for a little while. :D
