Gibbs says Obama hasn't spoken to Mubarak...
...and that he's not aware if Obama has called Mubarak.

Not aware? One, why aren't you aware of it? And two, how come your answer isn't "Yes he has made an attempt to talk to Mubarak"?

Color me confused.

4. Extreme panic now. The whole imperial house of cards is crashing and since
they tried to butter that hot toast on both sides, they're having trouble grabbing either side.

Just my opinion.

5. Hosni may be a little busy...
unassing his country. He may have even been on the Egypt Air flight that made the unscheduled stop in Greece earlier.

9. I think they haven't finished scripting this yet
It happened to precipitously.
It IS ludicrous to say Obama hasn't spoken to Mubarek or other regional leaders. (Israelis?)
Unless they're pulling a Bill Clinton..."I did not have words with President Mubarek..."
Right.

Obama Has Not Spoken With Mubarak

Gibbs says President Obama has not spoken with Egyptian President Mubarak about the unrest in Egypt.

He adds that "we are in continual contact" with the Egyptian government at several different levels

Gibbs: 'This Will Be Solved By The Egyptian People'

Gibbs, asked what the U.S. government would do to enforce calls for freedom of assembly and Internet access, said, "This will be solved by the Egyptian people." He did confirm, however, that the U.S. is reviewing its aid status to Egypt based on the events of the next few days.

Gibbs: Ambassador To Egypt Met With White House

Gibbs says deputies met with the ambassador to Egypt, Margaret Scobey, and other State Department officials at the White House today. President Obama was not at the briefing, but the information was relayed to him, Gibbs said.

14. White House conveys mixed feelings and uncertainty with clarity and firmness!

"So the White House has called this press conference to convey with clarity and firmness its mixed feelings and uncertainty," tweets former Bush administration speechwriter Joshua Treviño.

That is a funny line no matter where it comes from .... and it's an accurate description of todays news conference.

(although nobody has really heard from HIM), and by extension the US itself, looked like complete morons. That was a freaking embarrassment.
