He's very observant of what's happening. NOT.

2. A dialogue between whom?
If this is about Egypt I'd say that we will need a dialogue with the new government.

14. The term "professional" means people who get paid
Edited on Fri Jan-28-11 04:04 PM by emulatorloo
Professional - TV shows, Radio Shows, Newspaper Columnists, High profile bloggers who derive at least part of their income from expressing their opinions.

Professional Right = Charles Krauthammer, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Red State Blog, Liz Cheney etc etc

Professional Left = Arianna Huffington, Big Ed, Fire Dog Lake Blog, etc etc.

You and I aren't professional - at least I don't get paid to express my opinion I don't think you do either.

Nor are the Egyptian Protesters being paid.

So I fail to understand your joke/analogy? It doesn't make sense. Thanks for the link though!

Haven't seen the Gibbs thing, but other posters are suggesting he said that there be some kind of negotiation and that the protesters need to be listened too.

Most DU'ers aren't professional opinion makers. Do you have a TV show?

6. I was actually thinking this is the most forthcoming I've ever heard him. He IS
restricted to what he can say, of course, so I felt he was being pretty honest (as honest as a WH spokesperson can be in such a situation).

10. White Noise?
Gibbs said what amounted to nothing other than what would appeal to a voyeur or an Orwell fan.

"Blah, blah, monitoring, blah, fluid, blah, no violence, blah!"

12. I'm reminded of a National Lampoon cartoon
From the late 1970s, criminal desperado, holding a gun (machine gun?), looking down out of a second-story window. The room is pretty seedy-looking, as is the desperado. Bullet holes pockmark the wall and ceiling, smoke drifts from the barrel of the gun as the desperado floats a bill out the window with the caption, "Okay, coppers. Here's twenty bucks that says we forget the whole thing."

17. And what do YOU think he should say?
He is a press secretary, not the president, not the SoS. ANd they are all walking on a tight rope trying to handle a very volatile and risky situation. You think he should jump on the lst plane still flying to Cairo and join the protesters?
