I simply don't get it. Thousands out on the streets tearing shit up and dude wants to hold on, uses force and whatnot. I'm sure he's got enough money stashed somewhere. Why doesn't he just pack his shit, and move to an island, and spend the rest of his days screwing prostitutes and playing video games. Idiot...

1. Power hungry people are much like greedy people...
Don't try to make sense of it. It will only give you a headache.

4. Do you think it's easy to find people that ruthless?
If it were, Mubarak would have been replaced long ago.

9. Because power is the ultimate addiction..
For those susceptible to the addiction there is nothing on this planet more addictive than power, more than sex, more than crack, meth, nicotine or any other drug.

11. That's easy. I can think of two reasons off the top of my head.
The first one is just the fact that power allows you to benefit yourself and your friends.

The second is less selfish. A reason to maintain power despite being unpopular is that you are firmly convinced that your opponents will fuck up badly (or betray the public interest) enough that the country is better off under your unpopular reign.

12. have you ever encountered a DU poster who, no matter how hard their posts are unrecced,
nevertheless insists that they are 100% right and their critics 100% wrong, and that, despite the heavy barrage of unrecs that inevitably pound their posts to oblivion, they also somehow represent the opinion of the majority and all GD should bow to their wisdom?

I imagine Mubarak is kind of like that.
