So, now that President Obama has single-handedly brought Democracy to Egypt (per CNN)... |
|
without deploying a single American soldier, or depleting our treasury by a single penny, what's next?
Is there nothing OUR President can't do?

Didn't he just get done giving a speech basically saying "dictatorship . . . . democracy . . . . meh, who cares? I support everyone. And furry puppies."

4. If the Egyptian government falls in a chaotic manner... |
|
...who knows what could fill the vacuum. I hope it is something democratic leaning and at least somewhat secular, but who knows. There is a reason we support corrupt royalty's and dictators like Mubarak throughout the Muslim world - we (and Israel) are afraid of what may follow their collapse. So no, Egypt may not get a democracy at all. Or it may get one that is entirely hostile to us. It is way too early to tell what is going to happen.

6. CNN (specifically Woof Blitzen) jumped the gun and "blamed" the Egypt situation... |
|
on President Obama. The RWers are going to run with it.
If it turns out badly, he'll get the blame. If not, they're going to credit BushCo*... after the fact.

9. That is the most ignorant and selfish statement I've heard about Egypt today. |

Sounds just about right... for the weak and pansy-ass USA! :sarcasm:

..that is exactly why US policy has been to cater and defend dictators like Mubarak and corrupt monarchies in places like Saudi Arabia.
We, and our Israeli allies, are afraid of what would come next. We look to Iran and fear the same thing will happen in Egypt and elsewhere. Like it or not, that has been the policy of both Democratic and Republican administrations.

Obama can just glare at third-world dictators and they'll instantly resign and flee into exile.
Because they know.
They just know.
