Egypt deploys Main Battle Tanks onto the streets
Edited on Fri Jan-28-11 09:19 PM by nadinbrzezinski
No, not a photo of one in the streets, just a file photo...

If it looks familiar, it should... that is an M1-A1.

Oh and that deployment is according to Richard Engel... right now on the tv

It's a good tank. I trained in it at Ft Knox in 1989. 19K

M60 tanks for the army
Those were the ones driving around with their barrels lashed down and protesters welcoming them. The police/"republican guard" had armored vehicles and M1 Abrams out.

12. We don't supply Egypt with tanks, they build them themselves
under license and I believe they are the "export versions", no DU armor, etc.

16. I'm sure the licensing terms were favorable to them...
They could at least ship some of the Jeeps they make under license back here - those suckers are sweet.

6. All that's needed now is an exiled Egyptian Cleric to
make a triumphant return.

Investment recommendation, buy stock in Burka and Veil Warehouse. Maybe some of those little whips that the Morality Patrols use to lash womens ankles that are showing to much.

9. Good news, history never ever repeats itself
and the people rejected the Muslim Brotherhood in 1953...

So no, I don't expect a western style democracy, nor do I expect a theocracy.

10. ...Are doomed to repeat it
The leaders rarely if ever come from the streets. Someone will jump in front of this parade too.
