I'd choose the video camera.

(see Egypt today for a clue why)

2. A camera.
In fact, I've often suggested to hunters who talk about enjoying the thrill of tracking and seeing a wild animal to do so with a camera instead of a gun.

Your reason is good, too. ;)

I have my reasons. Definately not to go out to shoot anyone like that mindless idiot in Arizona did.

I'm very skilled at what I do, and shooting is only one of these skills. I don't glorify weapons, they are just tools after all.

But suffice it to say I support Second Amendment rights, and I myself am someone who has done civil disobedience and protesting.

I hate corporations and feel the best thing to do with the very rich is make them much less wealthy.

41. I do, for example there should of been checks to keep
Jared Lee Dumb shit from buying a weapon or ammo based on his frightful behavior at his community college.

I also think people should take courses in how to use weapons safely, use trigger locks as most gun deaths are accidental, and they should have to document they know how to use what they are buying.

I do believe people should be able to get concealed permits, but again they should have to have stricter background checks for this. I have been robbed at gunpoint before when I was younger and worked at convenience stores, and have had a pack of kids try to take a very expensive bicycle from me and I barely escaped with the machine under me.

I keep my equipment in a gun safe, triggers locked, bolt carrier groups and pins stored separately, and I keep the ammo separately and secured too. I hate violence, I hate seeing people shot, but I am not going to live as a serf or a slave in a country owned and controlled by corporations and super rich SOBs.

56. Video cameras are great, and invaluable tools
But this thread asked for preferences. I have many friends who have done excellent work doing cop watch and have exposed police abuses with cameras and I appreciate this work.

But my own skills with camera work is not as good as theirs, and their knowledge of weapons, tactics, and training in regards to weapons don't match mine.

As I said, weapons are tools and I have no fetish or glorification of them. My skills are better geared for that particular one of the two options in this either/or thread.

Think about that. I hate violence, but in a reality where oppression increases dramatically, cell phones, cameras and other things besides guns will be confiscated too. Not just guns and ammo.

In that reality, a video camera is just one more rock to throw. I want more than just a rock if that becomes our reality.

And now I'm going to take a gun safety class. Talk about backwards.

However, within the context being discussed, I think a video camera, if the images could be gotten out would be of more use than another dead soldier.

76. No, that is ridiculous to have such a big magazine
There has to be a balance between gun rights and public safety, and if you have a lunatic like Jared Lee batshitcrazimon firing indiscriminately into a crowd, more people die if they have such a magazine extension apparatus.

Obviously had he had to pause to reload sooner, less people would of died.

In the Army, I was taught that if ambushed, assault in the direction of the ambush. Had I had been near him - even unarmed - my training would of kicked in with no need to think and would of started going for him.

Much of the training people like me get kicks in as a default reaction. I really would not give a damn if after I got to him and neutralized him I bled out and died if I could stop anyone else from dying so horribly tragically and unnecessarily.

Training to handle this sort of ambush of the public with an assassination intent to it involves more than knowledge and training to respond instinctively; it involves imbuing one with the fire of a passion for justice that makes one love that more than their own life.

The best soldier will die to keep their buddy alive in combat. And when I was in a combat arms MOS in the U.S. Army, I had the honor of knowing many such people. Which is why though the overly religious and conservative assholes I knew made my life miserable sometimes, it was an honor to serve; an honor to be a soldier in the United States Army.

I don't like guns and they don't like me. I can tell they don't like me because they won't shoot where I'm trying to aim them at.

With a camera, if my aim is a little off, I can crop the photo and all is good.

The thing you have to remember is that you aim the camera at what you want a photograph of and the gun at something that you want to kill. After a few beginner's mistakes it should be smooth sailing.

I can take pics with my cell phone if need be and I have that with me all the time. The video camera is in some closet somewhere here in the house and on the rare times I use that, I have to ask one of the kids how to operate it.

The guns I have have some historical military significance which is a subject I'm interested in. In time, when the funds are available, I'll buy more but I'll never purchase another video camera.

Shes one of two that the coyotes came very close to having for dinner.

They are a brazen bunch, so brazen in fact that we've caught them looking through the windows at the cats, from the front porch, and they become quite defensive when they're between us and our dogs. Defending dinner presumably.
