Michelle Rhee is a BIG FAT LIAR
In last month’s Washingtonian Magazine, she told an interviewer:

“In my second year of teaching, we took them from the bottom to the top on academics, and what I learned from that experience was these kids were getting screwed because people wanted to blame their low achievement levels on the single-parent households and on the poverty in the community. In that two-year period, none of those things changed. Their parents didn’t change.

“What changed?

“What we were doing with them in school.”

Her official resume says “Over a two-year period, moved students scoring on average at the 13th percentile on national standardized tests to 90% of students scoring at the 90th percentile or higher.”

However, the blogger checked the data & found that in Rhee’s school (where there were only 2 second-grade classes) "reading scores went steadily down for Rhee’s first two years, and then went up a bit during the third year, but not even to the 50th percentile in reading."

And at the same time, the percentage of special ed kids in her school went -- down. By 3/4.

MICHELLE RHEE = BIG FAT LIAR & the media & gov't also = BIG FAT LIARS.

then they put her in charge of DC.

lol.

because of the "miracle" she performed in baltimore -- where she taped her kids' mouths shut & drove them around the city without notifying their parents.

5. Not being a teacher, parent or anyone other than a Progressive
that believes in a good and equitable public education system, I can honestly say I've approached Ms. Rhee and her promotion as some kind of Education Expert extraordinaire with a big grain of salt, but with no particular preconception. However, the first time I saw Ms. Rhee being interviewed, i just got the sense that she was hiding something, or at least not being totally honest about who she was. Something in her body language.

Maybe my instincts were right?

10. I guess the PISA tests showing American students 31st in math, 23rd in science are big lies too????
Last month, the results of the most recent Programme for International Student Assessment, or PISA, tests were announced. It was the first time that Chinese students had participated, and children from Shanghai ranked first in every single area. Students from the United States, meanwhile, came in seventeenth in reading, twenty-third in science, and an especially demoralizing thirty-first in math. This last ranking put American kids not just behind the Chinese, the Koreans, and the Singaporeans but also after the French, the Austrians, the Hungarians, the Slovenians, the Estonians, and the Poles.

But you're right we should keep everything the same, it's working so well for us. We shouldn't try any new ideas or new approaches because they come from the wrong people.

14. you don't know shit about those tests, starting with the fact that "the chinese" weren't tested.
5000 kids from cram schools in shanghai were.

you should know that:

1) 40% of chinese DON'T EVEN GO TO HIGH SCHOOL

2) in shanghai most of the labor is done by workers from the provinces WHOSE CHILDREN HAVE NO RIGHT TO ATTEND SCHOOL IN SHANGHAI.

you have no fucking clue.

15. What about the kids in Denmark, Holland, Sweden?? That are all ahead of us?? Were they all tested?
Yes, the Chinese did compete, were they special students, probably. That does not explain the 30 other countries that beat us in science or the 22 other countries that beat us in math.

You don't have to know shit to understand these stats.

The 40% of Chinese not tested are not the ones that will be competing with for future jobs. There are 1.4 billion Chinese the 60% that are educated outnumber our total population by 3 times. Let's
not get sidetracked by Chinese politics and worry about how far behind we are and what the hell we are going to do about it.

18. What does this have to do with Rhee not being honest?
The failing of our children is 99.99999999% the fault of the parents. Rhee won't dare point her fingers at parents so she gets her power from assaulting teachers.

17. Did that "testing" compare apples to apples?
Or is another "study" that compares the best of schools in other countries to our composite scores?
