Al Jazeera is the "Fox News" of the middle east .
I've been watching the "Al Jazeera English: Live Stream" reporting on the Egyptian protests off and on over the last 24hrs and have noticed something distubing. I'll try to explain.

This morning, there are fewer protesters and things are much calmer with no violence. Al Jazeera is showing fresh video of this more peaceful behavior intermixed with old video from yesterday which shows violent crowds burning vehicles and clashing with police. The violent and peaceful shots are randomly cut together. This, along with calling the feed "Live", would give the casual viewer the impression that violent protests continue!

Rather than impartial, objective journalism, Al Jazeera seems to be promoting a revolt.

1. What you've said is what Fox themselves would say.
Al Jazz is nothing like Fox.

2. Ding ding we have a winner
Good morning. :hi:

Great coverage on Al Jazeera. Most of the protests have been peaceful.
BBC has the same coverage.

4. It could still be improved
by replacing any odd adverts with a ska track. :)

Al Jazeera had the best coverage yesterday partly as a result of their offices, in which they were banged up , overlooking some of what was occuring outside.

Good morning to you too. :hi:

3. Uh, no.
No they're not. I watched Al Jazeera's live feed for 6 hours yesterday because none of America's corporate MSM were showing anything. FINALLY, when they could no longer sustain the news blackout because the rest of the world (other than China) was tapping into Al Jazeera, it all of a sudden became "Breaking News."

Al Jazeera is what journalism USED to be.

A professional crew. Makes people like Matthews look like the schoolboys they are.

Embarrassing, actually, if one is an American. Can't we even do news anymore?

5. A hearty Unrecommend.
You are so wrong. Al Jazeera is actually showing what's going on, while our American outlets are mostly just sitting around discussing it.

8. Al Jazeera may not be 100% impartial, but it's not Fox
Al Jazeera isn't in bed with politicians or the rich, and doesn't boldface lie.

And have only lived in the era of the 24-hour cable news channel, but we USED to have actual NEWS and JOURNALISTS in this country.

Al-Jazeera is NOTHING like Fox News. They're actually REPORTING NEWS, not telling people what to think.

EDIT: Oh, and you get a nice "unrec" from me as well.

23. Well, you're sort of correct.
The sad truth is peaceful protests mean little change in an authoritarian regime. I'm not saying by any means I advocate violence, but as the streets calm Mubarak will have less and less reason to take any drastic action.

Thanks for the info.

Do you think the Egyptian government should shut down Al Jazeera?
