MEDINA, Ohio —
Wearing risque clothing and dirty dancing have become a thing of the past at a local high school.
New rules are in effect for dances at Medina High School. The rules include checking students for alcohol use at the door.
The "Sweetheart Dance" for students at Medina High School is Saturday, Feb. 5. The rules will influence how students dress and how they dance.
"There's no dirty dancing anymore, so you have to go front, there's no front to back, you have to be facing each other the whole time. It's very, I would say, conservative dancing. It's more of what high schoolers should be dancing like," explained Anna Howell, a student.
Students will have to blow into a breathalyzer before getting admitted to the dance. Howell, who was on the committee that came up with the new rules, says they were implemented after two students showed up intoxicated at the school's homecoming dance last fall.
