Just seems kind of odd to me. People keep asking about the protests spreading, the domino effect...and the national news is telling everyone where to gather to protest...er, rally in support of the Egyptian people.

Can you say "foment?" Hey, it'd be good for ratings.

2. The Internet, particularly DU, beat the networks to the punch.
They are attempting to overcompensate for there ineffective coverage of real news. Even Twitter and Facebook was involved in the beginning of this uprising.

3. I would correct you slightly to say that people used Twitter and
Facebook as well as various Web sites to communicate about the rallies.

I'm bothered by the use of the term "foment" as in "X used Twitter to foment the uprising." Foment implies to me that Twitter was used to get peoples' attention, to enrage them about something. I think thee people were already pretty "fomented", all Twitter allowed was for many individuals to act together. To me, the proper phrase would be "X used Twitter to organize the uprising."

4. Sorry for abandoning my thread...I posted, and left the weekend...BUT...
I didn't say Twitter fomented an uprising. Where on earth did you see that? What I mentioned was the "MSM," not Twitter, posting maps with times and places for the American protest rallies. Why would they do that? Doesn't it seem to play into a certain angle many DUers have mentioned many time; getting the U.S. people out into the streets. Great news story. Helps with their overall narrative. My post had absolutely nothing to do with Twitter or Facebook, they do what they do and that's great. But why, oh why, would the media which has ignored every anti-war protest, the MLK backpack bomb, the Koch brothers secret meetings, etc, etc, etc...why NOW are they giving us maps and times to take to the streets? Hmmm. That's all. Tweet about it if you want (I don't play that one). But again, nothing to do with Twitter or organic social networking.
