22. I also know that there will be a power struggle |
|
and they are not a consensus of the majority of Egyptians. Vocal yes
Who knows....you might see a Robespierre or a Washington or Cicero might emerge
I do know this........ that there are major hidden powers playing games that will corrupt the people's will for their own gain and that includes the most powerful ........ yes, the corporatist, CIA and even the Saudis and Iranians.
Btw.... Robespierre hated the death penalty and really just let power destroy him
Self determination?
Money talks.

12. No freedom is what Americans have |
|
No one else is free like they are.... I thought you knew that?
Corporations have no control over your 'freedoms' and the supreme court backs that up!!!
George Bush said we are the most free..est people on the planet Banks and Wall Street are free! Capitalism is Free The media is Free
Controls are just secondary. Which is the real question.

6. More freedom! Absolutely! |

I don't think the Muslim Brotherhood freaks will be able to take over. The young section of the population is too secular minded for such fundamentalist crap.

Less, the vacuum left by Mubarak will NOT be filled by |
|
the young disaffected demonstrators on the streets today. The so-called revolution will be hijacked by different strongmen, it's almost inevitable.

Egypt was ruled by Rome for a 1,000 years. The West is very strong there.

|
Edited on Sat Jan-29-11 03:45 PM by upi402
Don't know, but pundits make it sound like they may have a dominant say. I bet the current gang will have to go,one way or the other. No turning back it seems.
ElBaradei won the Nobel but so did Obama - and he's not 'of the people' one tiny bit! So... ?

23. Revolutions are inhereintly risky |
|
A particular revolution may well be justified on moral, humanitarian, philosophical and political grounds, but regardless of how right and just it may be, there is never a guarantee of success. Unfortunately, if you look at the history of revolutionary movements, success is more the exception than the rule. All too often, revolutionary movements that begin authentically wind up being co-opted by subgroups of a population whose agenda may be less than altruistic.
That said, if the people feel they need to revolt, i wish them every success.

24. Revolutions are worth it, even though second or third revolutions are required if |
|
the first one doesn't achieve the results you wanted. The alternative of telling people to just live with poverty and repression is hardly an acceptable alternative anyway.
