I wonder if Sarah Palin knows...
that the "Spudnut Shop" in Richland that she bragged about was once part of a large franchising system that collapsed due to mismanagement and bad decisions--the same thing that brought on the bailouts?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spudnut_Shops

The difference couldn't be more clear, though: if a donut shop company with three hundred outlets dies, on a macro scale it's not a big problem. (Even for the donut shops it's not a big deal: a Spudnut store that learned its parent had vanished could do one of two things: franchise to another brand, or call a sign shop and a foodservice distributor and become "Jim's Donut City." Or, in the case of some of the Spudnut stores, figure out what the dry mix is supposed to contain and keep on going.) If a bank goes to hell because the government decided bankers could be trusted, they can't just shrug their shoulders and go "oops, my bad" before they just evaporate.

8. The Republican First Amendment
You have the freedom to speak words I agree with.
You have the freedom to publish articles flattering to Republicans.
You have the freedom to worship at my church.

4. Palin's 'claim' was complete Republicon bullshit
Edited on Sat Jan-29-11 05:15 PM by SpiralHawk
...since virtually every customer that spudnut shop gets is someone living on a government check...

No government, no spudnut shop. Fact. Deal with it, RepubliPhantisizers.

Never trust what a republicon says.

Their track record of lies is mighty damn long...

7. I don't have a problem with government contractors
Face facts: if you pave road you are sucking at the government teat for about 85 percent of your livelihood because there aren't that many new stores needing parking lots.

But assume Spudnut was a bank. They would create a Donut Backed Security. Someone would write twenty of these on each donut. They would then create Collateralized Donut Obligations by tranching DBS and selling bonds against the tranche. To protect against loss in the CDO market they would write Donut Default Swaps. Then, when the derivatives buyers realized the underlying security--one donut--had been eaten by a cop two hours after it was made, they would be at the government's door demanding to be made whole.

The difference between a bank and a donut shop is you can only sell a donut once. Sarah Palin doesn't realize this.

5. "I wonder if Sarah Palin knows ...."
Any time you hear those six words uttered, it's a safe bet to say "no".

6. This is even funnier than the thread about all the customers being Federal employees
I have to harken back to the Neo-Cons. They came up with such convoluted wild ideas that you would think there was a bong present throughout the process. Does she have anyone who stops her from embarassing herself or is any publicity good publicity OR is there a personal use exception in Alaska for weed?

Honestly.

9. I think it's a personal use exemption for crack
Weed doesn't do this to people.
