ElBaradei has been tapped by ALL opposition movements as interim president.
Al Jazeera reports he will be arriving at Tahrir square soon, approx. 10 minutes.

Now that there is an official leader, and a fucking good one in ElBaradei, it looks like this might have some legs after all. It's not just a mob, now it's starting to become a government!

DOWN WITH MUBARAK!

1. It never was just a mob
And that's what scares some people the most, I think.

That's wonderful that there will not be a shitty ass civil war or something.

4. If this report is true,
it should now be easier for other governments to pressure Mubarak to leave.

6. Yes, it should be.
Especially, because of the fact that ElBaradei has so much credibility with the international audience.

In another, he's too much of a democrat for the Western powers.

17. this has been such an inspiring uprising by the people of a nation
according to AlJ, some are now volunteering to serve as traffic police b/c the police have disappeared - in order to help the movement of goods like food and fuel - b/c movement of these things stops in moments like these.

ElBaradei coming forward. The Muslim Brotherhood working with other groups (and to quell the fears of westerners) about their willingness to work as part of a coalition (also, according to AlJ, The Muslim Brotherhood is only 20% of the population, in terms of political power...)

Volunteers to protect national treasures from looters - and the arrest of police looters...

I hope and pray Mubarak recognizes it is time for him to leave and that he will do so today.

I've been watching AlJ - the coverage is amazing. The analysis is rational, not fear-mongering.

Then I checked out ABC News via Hulu for a bit and the entire news segment was dedicated to what Americans should fear...

What an amazing moment in history - and how sad that U.S. news agencies seem to miss the point... again.

18. This is 1989 and we are the USSR.
Our grasp on the nations of the world is starting to fall, that's why we're seeing that kind of shit in our media.

19. State television in Egypt
AlJ - apparently the state tv - which is still on the air, despite the shut down of the internet - has had Egyptian intellectuals talking about the reality that this is the end of the Murarak regime.

unprecedented.
