Marc Ginsberg (ambassador): "They need to choose someone WE can deal with"..wtf!
Edited on Sun Jan-30-11 11:25 AM by SoCalDem
I am always amazed at how our leadership wants to micro-manage the world. I guess I should not be amazed, after watching our foreign policies in action for my 62 years on the planet, but the hubris is still breathtaking.

The rest of the world was not all that pleased with GWB.

Somehow, I cannot believe that the people in the streets really care all that much what WE think right now...except for the part where they are getting less patient with our "official" non-pressure on Mubarek to leave sooner, rather than later.

1. Memo to Mr. Ginsberg: This is not about US.
This country is so damn egocentric it makes me sick.

2. One of the issues I see continuing to pop up on Tweets is that the US needs to get OUT
of the "leadership" picking role. They're pissed that the US isn't loudly showing their support for the people's quest for democracy. So, Ginsberg is out of touch with what is going on in a country that is not our own--no matter how much we may want it to be ours by propping up a puppet dictator.

3. He is not part of the Obama Administration. He is just on TV talking.
Edited on Sun Jan-30-11 11:32 AM by Pirate Smile
He was an Ambassador to Morocco during the Clinton Administration if you are talking about the guy that has been on MSNBC the past few days. He was attacking the Administration on Friday. He is not in Government currently.

People keep saying the Obama Administration needs to do something and then that they need to do nothing. It is annoying. It isn't about us and we don't control everything. Obama can't wave a magic wand and make things wonderful. It isn't about us. Most of the assistance we can provide is behind the scenes.

12. The problem is that he's NOT being identified as anything more than "ambassabor Ginsberg"
and people in other parts of the world get their view of US, by what and whom they see on OUR tv networks..

5. He's been saying that all weekend on MSNBC.
It's amazing how some people can only view this amazing uprising through the lens of American empire and power.

Meaning whoever takes over. "Plata o plombo", as they say in South America. "Silver or lead".

19. I see he went to the
Rudyard Kipling School of Foreign Relations. He's an annoying prick. Him and Blitzer have been practically having panic attacks on the air since the revolt began -- "THE MUSLIMS ARE COMING! THE MUSLIMS ARE COMING!" I just want to reach into the screen, backhand the both of them and yell "Get a grip!"

21. It would be in Egypt's best interest to choose someone who will deal with the US

And I think publicly we are using just the right amount of pressure to go along with our position in the world and area.

23. In other words we like dictators who do what we want
them to do. They say it's protecting American interests, but that isn't exactly true. It's protecting the global corporate interests that we do business with. Try getting help from the State Department if you are arrested in a foreign country with some dope on you or for crossing a border you shouldn't have or any number of offenses Americans have gotten into trouble about overseas. They will very reluctantly protect your interest as a citizen of the USA if they protect it at all.
