Pawlenty in Iowa: Bachmann would be “a strong candidate.”
5:32 PM, Jan 30, 2011 | by Tom Beaumont

Former Gov. Tim Pawlenty said in Iowa Sunday that fellow Minnesota Republican Michele Bachmann would be a strong presidential candidate, but that having two prospects from one state would not complicate his candidacy, if both of them run.

“Congresswoman Bachmann is someone I have a cordial and positive relationship with,” Pawlenty said before signing copies of his new memoir at Family Christian bookstore in Ankeny. “I don’t know if she’s going to run for president. If she does run, she’ll be a strong candidate.”

7. That's the downside to our first in the nation status
All the right wing blowhards (Sarah, Michele, Newt, etc) pay an inordinate amount of attention to our state.

10. Thus the 2012 Republican slate for President
Even a somewhat rational person like Pawlenty knows that a portion of his party is batshit insane, so he has to try and find ways to appeal to them. The more they do this, the more ammo we'll have against any one of them.

13. I Would Be Really Worried About 2012............
............if the Republican Party had a single electable candidate.

But since they don't, Obama will win re-election in a walk. There's not a single Republican out there right now who will be able to even make it close (and by "close" I mean as close as Grampy McBush made it--which wasn't really close at all).

They don't have a single adult in the room. That's what happens when you cater to the nut-bags and call them "your base."
