So now the Super Bowl has to go political
with celebrations just prior to kick-off celebrating Ronald Reagan's 100th birthday. I feel if they do this they should offer equal time and honor a democratic president, too.

The media and RR's partisans are surely going all out to try to convince Americans that Reagan was a great president, rather than simply a guy with a skilled TV presence who could read what was put in front of him and actually began to suffer from the Alzheimers that afflicted him during his presidency.

7. They've been doing all that military glorification shit and flag waving...
... nonsense for years. Not enough people objected.

YES , as it turns out. There IS a down side to all that.

Slipping Reaganism into the official mix is classic "dropping the other shoe."

We should have objected when they started glorifying the wars in the guise of "honoring the troops" and the military fly-overs, etc.

But we didn't. Probably too late now,

10. Americans have to be among the goofiest people on earth
This guy kicked off 30 years of fantasy economics, runaway deficits, consolidation of corporate power, weakening of government; the very plagues that are killing us right now. What to do? Throw a fucking party for the Gipper, but of course.

14. I will be switching channels
when the Reagan tribute comes on.

They just want to promote their revisionist history. There has been a well funded campaign to elevate Reagan while at the same time there has been a campaign to denigrate FDR. The same group of people are responsible for both campaigns. It all comes down to this, Republicans = good, Democrats = bad.

16. Maybe they'll follow North Korea's way of celebrating Kim Il Jong
They would love to have the same kind of cult of personality here for Reagan like North Korea for Kim Il Jong.

I swear, I think the reason rightwingers hate totalitarian regimes like North Korea isn't due to ideology...it's due to jealousy.

19. They are going to air an interview with a Democratic President before the game:
Bill O'Reilly to interview Obama for Fox Super Bowl pre-game

The pro football playoffs begin this weekend, but Fox Sports is already making sure there'll be solid television ratings no matter what teams make it to the Super Bowl on Feb. 6.

That's because conservative Fox News talk show host Bill O'Reilly will be interviewing President Obama during the pre-game show, the White House confirmed today.

When other networks broadcast the game in Obama's first two years in office, NBC had host Matt Lauer (2009) conduct the sit-down, while Katie Couric handled it last year for CBS.

O'Reilly , who interviewed Obama during the 2009 presidential campaign believes he gave Obama the toughest interview of anyone during that election. Unclear whether he'll be that tough this time around.

21. "Cut & Run Ronnie"?....gonna get a celebtation?
The only thing I like about Ronnie.
When the Marine Barracks was bombed in 1983 killing 241 Americans,
St Ronnie pulled out.....lock, stock, and barrel.
He wasn't going to waste American lives and treasure in a place where we weren't wanted.

I wish Obama would learn this lesson from his favorite president.

36. i wish there were a premium channel
where you could just watch the game and none of the patriotic flag-waving bullshit that goes with it. That goes for the Reagan thing, the Obama interview, the incessant shots of soldiers watching the game, *and* the national anthem.

37. Reagan was HATED in Pittsburgh
Seriously. I grew up in Pittsburgh and was in high school and college during the Reagan years. They were hard on Pittsburgh and the union steelworkers.

I fully expect Steeler Nation to boo when they mention Reagan. Or, at least stay silent.
