2. Get the troops out of Iraq AND Afghanistan NOW.
End all prosecutions of whistleblowers(it's only Republicans who are supposed to do such prosecutions)

Lay out an PROGRESSIVE alternative to the right-wing agenda that the Boehnerhaus will robotically pass.

Engage the left rather than attacking it (since it can't be worth re-electing a Democratic administration that treats the left as the enemy).

4. In addition to the above excellent suggestions, get rid of Geithner and Summers,
replace Eric Holder with Jonathan Turley (who probably wouldn't be scrambling to find a way to nail Assange), have weekly meetings with Rachel Maddow to get a take on what his "progressive base" is REALLY feeling.

6. fix the DNC
A lot of things I'd like him to do, but one that I will mention is that I would really like him to do something with the Democratic National Committee. Bring it back to the way it was under Howard Dean. This is one of my biggest complaints about Obama. I am shocked how the DNC has gone from being a rather powerful organization under Dean, to being completely absent. We absolutely need this organization to be crafting a coherent message that defines the Democratic Party, and helps candidates throughout the country. I place a lot of blame for what happened this past election on the fact that the DNC has basically disappeared.

9. Try not to pass too many GOP legislative "compromises"
like the recent Reaganomics tax cuts.

At this point its damage control mode when it comes to President Obama and what he might do with the GOP to the country.

Who knew Obama was so serious when he praised Reagan?

21. I agree with the title of your post.
However,"someone with a backbone and conviction" doesn't really fix the problem. Obama has plenty of both when it come to representing the interests of the top 1%. What is needed is someone that represents the interests of the other 99% of the country that have been ignored for far too long.

18. ASAP Announce he will not run for POTUS in 2012
Edited on Sat Dec-18-10 03:02 AM by PufPuf23
Obama is destroying th Democratic Brand into foggy mist and harming the counter to the GOP.

Sad but true to any long term Democratic Party member.

NeoLiberals are closer to NeoCons in foreign and economic policy than the Democratic agenda set by FDR.

The world and nation would be a better place without neocons and neoliberals being taken seriously ever.

19. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
I want a President. A President would do the first two things. A President whose ego drives his every day doings would do the third. I'd hope President Barack Obama was above the third, which merely drives faux news to criticize him more and poison their viewers that much more strongly.
