US announces record deportations
EL PASO, Texas — The United States deported more illegal immigrants than ever before during the first two years of President Barack Obama's administration, his government said on Monday.

"In both fiscal years 2009 and 2010, Immigration and Customs Enforcement removed more illegal immigrants from our country than ever before, with more than 779,000 removals nationwide in the last two years," Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said.

The Obama administration must prove it is tough on illegal immigrants and can secure the country's porous borders if it is to stand a chance of passing a comprehensive overhaul of America's tattered immigration system.

Napolitano announced the record figures in El Paso, Texas -- the border city which is the focus of a major drive by the administration to stem the tide of illegal immigrants flowing over the border from Mexico.

1. And how many illegal employers did Janet lock up this year?
The high level of deportations only serves to provide additional leverage to employers to keep foreign nationals in slavery.

2. Yes, what are they doing other than blaming the victims
if they aren't going after the employers?

WE destroyed the economies of south and central American nations with Free Trade agreements. We created massive poverty that drove these people off of farms and destroyed their companies and their jobs. We used caused constant mass migrations over our own borders. And then we punish the people who come here as a result, blaming them for being so poor that coming here is their only option.

If capital can cross borders freely looking for wealth, why can't labor? If the rich can take their money to any nation they want to make the best profit, why can't workers go to any nation to work?

Why create poverty that forces people to move, and then punish them for moving? And if anyone must be punished, why not punish the companies that illegal hire these people, breaking so many labor laws, and paying illegally low wages?

The double standards are sickening, but overlooked because there is a convenient scapegoat on hand. :grr:
