700 club Blew. My. Mind.
So last night I tivoed the kids some classic disney cartoons that were playing on ABC Family Channel - I love, love the one where Donald Duck is snow ball fighting his nephews. Anyway, he tivo recorded the first several minutes of he "700 Club." Wow. I wactched three minutes of it and it blew my mind completey.

OK, I thought I knew that it was a television evangilist show, I thought I knew that it would be preachy. I didn't know though that it was a political show disguising itself as a news show. Holy Cow.

So they started off with this man and woman at what looked like a "news desk." Good news. The republicans in congress have prevented the democrats from imposing a tax cut. the republicans have preserved the Bush-era tax cuts. Thanks to the republians, your paycheck won't have more taxes taken out of it next week. Despite the democrats trying to raise taxes and take away the Bush tax cuts, the republicans fought to lower taxes for ALL Americans (and then the cut away to out of context clips of democratic legislators saying things like "...this goes against all the ideals of the democratic party..."). Then they came back, and said that the compromise that had to be negotiated with the democrats was still not a great compromise, because it didn't give enough to working Americans. But it was the best compromise that the republicans could acheive. Then a cut to President Obama taken out of context saying something like "...we had to compromise with the rublicans..."

It was amazing. It was balls out amazing.

Then it started talking about don't ask don't tell. That the democrats were pushing to repeal it, despite the grave warnings from the DOD poll that found that 12% of spouses would encorage their spouse to quit the military if DOTD was repealed. A clip of some guy "a 12% reduction in our forces would have serious consequences to our readiness." And the a picture of the "conservative enemies" in the republican party - and especially the hated Olympia Snow - who might vote to repeal DODT. And then a clip of another guy "these so-called republicans will have blood on their hands just like the democrats, because this measure will cause our soldiers to be killed."

That was all I could handle of it. But holy cow, I couldn't beleve it could be so slanted, so propagandized. It was so obvious, so transparant. They weren't even embarrassed by it. It was beyond patisan, it was down right propaganda. I was flat out amazed.

1. The good news is that the government finally caught on some years ago
and those bastards are being TAXED as a political organization. Yes, it's a fraud and a scam, but frauds and scams are apparently quite legal in politics.

This is what is keeping so many people deluded and in chains. The good news is that as the Reagan/Bush disaster continues to wreck things, people will start to wake up. Disaster in their own lives is the only thing that will wake them up.

In the meantime, the government they hate so much is collecting taxes from them.

Notice how he always leans just slightly to the right when he does that?

Hate to be sitting next to him.

13. My fave: Rev. Constipation praying that the Lord would
smite and "take out" a supreme ct. justice. "Lord, you know which one." It was when Sh*thead was still pretzeldent, and the Rev. wanted him to get to appoint a justice to stop all this legislating from the bench that was apparently going on. Who knew?

24. I totally randomly caught that one and as a Christian that was probably the most disgusting I ever
saw on the television machine.

I recall it as wishing death and/or at least severe illness on all the "godless ones" (or somesuch).

110% False Prophet and worse.

Bible aside, I'm fairly certain these primitive beliefs can be validated by anyone with a functional nose.

11. I worked as a maid for a woman who watched it. I was waiting for her to
finish eating and standing in view of the tv. For one solid hour the so called Christian preacher preached without say the name of Jesus even once. It was all political. They should not be tax exempt.

14. what really floored me
wasn't just that they were blatantly slanted, and not embarrassed enough to try to hide it, it was the obviously wrong parts. It was like, instead of trying to make some convulated argument that "rich people need a tax cut, too, so the money will trickle down" or even "it isn't fair to tax rich people more, they worked for that money and deserve it" (as wrong as those arguments are) they just skipped right passed it and said "republicans have gotten you a tax cut, and the democrats wanted to raise taxes, but the republicans fought for a tax cut for all Americans."

It was crazy.

34. It is not isolated propaganda. People who listen to 700 club hear the same thing
on other religious programming, on literally 90% of talk radio, on Fox, on conservative websites, and in several magazines/newspapers. It is a coordinated, deliberate marketing plan for lies. And it works because they hear it over and over.

36. Yep, one of the oldest tricks in the book...
Repeat the lie over and over again and the lie is perceived as fact to certain susceptible people. Hearing the same lie from a number of different sources makes the tactic all the more effective.
