Stop blaming Obama! Both Susan Collins and Rachel Maddow agree that DADT repeal had to happen!
I'm watching C-Span and they are airing Lieberman, Gillibrand, M. Udall and Susan Collins' press conference, post-DADT repeal.

As many of us attempted to explain for months now, this vote HAD to take place in the Congress. The courts would not have held the repeal up.

Even Rachel Maddow told Andrea Mitchell that the president could not have used an executive order to stop DADT because it didn't have the force of law. SInce DADT was Law/Legislation, there had to be an act of Congress to repeal it.

I hope that people will now stop blaming Obama on this...

1. Barbara Boxer said the same thing during her floor speech today.
That Obama could not have used an executive order.

2. Anything short of a full repeal by Congress was weak and vulnerable.
The President once again took the long view over instant gratification politics. Its basically how he has operated on every issue. Even someone like Krauthammer can see that, I don't know why its something that remains lost on our more rabid colleagues for progressivism.

3. I think the study was a good thing, too. It's best to build your case thoroughly
if you want it to withstand detractors and opposing arguments.
