Regarding today's DADT vote: I'm just flat-out happy that something good happened. Aren't you? |
|
I sure as hell am. This is progress.
It's hard work.
Brick by brick, we're building a tolerant and united society. Not the billionaires. Not the politicians.
It is us. We the people.
I really believe this DADT vote marks a sea change in American culture.
Sure, the Radical Right will stir things up and holler and whine. Tough shit.
We've finally, finally got them outnumbered.
The coming closetification of homophobes in our society is sweet, sweet justice.
Now, it is they who must hide who they really are. Karma.

3. Elated, but still sad that ... |

the DREAM Act was scuttled, once again. It was a huge issue of civil rights as well. I would ask that all of us, gay and straight, do not ignore this issue, and work to bring the DREAM Act back.

Not in our lifetimes. The oppression of 'others' has always been and will always be.
The best any of us can do is not participate, and to stand and fight when we can.

12. A Great Day... and NB to take the time to recognise the milestone... |

I live in Canada and yesterday, unexpectedly, I listened to an awful anti-homosexual rant from a church-going, pray to Jesus and bring him into your heart kind of man....
He revealed himself to be a bigot.. I was stunned and will never forget what he said. And frankly I thought Christians were better than that.
But you know what? He is a dinosaur.. and he had enough brainpower to realize that his viewpoint was going the way of the dodo bird...
Today's vote is the vote for the future... and these old geezers know it.. :)
