A Mormon Led The Senate to Permit Gay and Lesbian Americans Serve Openly in the Armed Forces.
Edited on Sat Dec-18-10 10:25 PM by David Zephyr
As Julie Andrews sang in "Victor/Victoria", it's a crazy world.

For me, it's a lot to take in:

A Mormon led the United States Senate to permit homosexuals to serve openly in the U.S. Armed Forces. Kudos to Harry Reid.

I'm proud to know that the first woman as Speaker of the House of Representatives pushed the House twice to permit homosexuals to serve openly in the Armed Forces. Kudos to Nancy Pelosi.

Joe Lieberman, the scourge of the Left, helped bring along the needed Republican votes to end DADT. Kudos to Joe LIeberman.

And an African-American President of the United States will sign the bill from Congress making it the law of the land. Kudos to Barack Obama.

What a crazy world we live in.

1. And you know what else?
Eight Republicans voted to repeal DADT as well. Including most notably Senator Collins who, along with Senator Lieberman, showed real courage and leadership to bring a DADT stand alone bill to the floor after the Senate failed to invoke cloture on the Defense Authorization bill that included DADT repeal language. All of those Senators, and especially Senator Collins, deserve our thanks as well.

You're right, it's a crazy world we live in. I'm celebrating tonight, this was a huge victory today!

15. Hello msongs.
Harry is a paradox after Prop 8 here in California. They do shun their children. We had a teen suicide in my old neighborhood. His parents (Mormon) moved away.

Let's hope it "does get better".
