A New Discussion on Afghanistan, Time To Go
Please read Doyle McManus' article in the LA Times

http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-mcmanus-afghanistan-20101219,0,5623511.column

According to this, it won't be until 2015 that we can "hand over" control to the Afghans. And that's only the beginning. The Russians gave up after 10 years, and that was too long for them.
When are we going to accept the fact that this is a lost cause, costing us lives and money and only making more enemies for us over there? Wouldn't it be better to just begin the draw down and get completely out before then? Before the next election? ???

1. 2015 may be the earliest time predicted. Put a Republican in the WH,
and have at least one chamber in Congress that's republican, and it could be many years past 2015 before Afghanistan is returned to its citizens.

2. Which is the best argument to end it now
otherwise, we may never get out. Remember McCain's infamous statement that we should be prepared to spend 100 years in Iraq?

3. By the way
If you read the article, scroll down to the comment at the bottom. Only one post there and not much on DU about this report (which only came out a few days ago).
Guess the wars continue to be overshadowed by tax cuts, DADT and other issues. (Nice job on the diversion by the warhawks).
