Vicious Infighting at NBC News during the Keith Olbermann suspension.
MSNBC’s president vowed to fire Keith Olbermann after he threatened to take his case to other networks. Howard Kurtz on the civil war that has NBC brass—and his own staff—fuming.

Keith Olbermann was having dinner with his manager at an Upper East Side restaurant, chewing over their battle to lift his suspension at MSNBC, when Phil Griffin called.

Michael Price stepped out of the Atlantic Grill to talk to MSNBC’s president, leaving his client with a platter of 18 oysters. It was Sunday, Nov. 7, and Price informed Griffin that if they couldn’t resolve their differences quickly, Olbermann would take his complaints public by accepting invitations from Good Morning America, David Letterman, and Larry King.

2. Only an out-and-out MORON would ever have thought
that Mr. Olbermann was anything other than liberal, and by default in this country of limited choices, a democrat.
There is no illusion of independence at MSNBC.

You can not damage that which does not really exist.

7. Are you suggesting Keith Olberman is the ENTIRE Network?
How liberal is Joe Scarborough?

4. the Comcast merger frightens me...
it is obvious that Kutze has nothing but contempt for Keith. If I hear that story about staff leaving notes on Keith's door one more time.:boring:

I will never forget the evening when Keith was the first and only one to challenge Bush with the Iraq war.

"What’s more, the incoming bosses at Comcast, which will soon close a deal to buy NBC from General Electric, are a more buttoned-down crowd, and people at the network expect less tolerance for Olbermann than Zucker has shown over the years. "

I sickens me, the thought what comcast will turn MSNBC into.

9. Agree. . . on Kurtz ... and Comcast .... !!!
and note Kurtz' very helpful comment that Comcast "are more buttoned-down crowd" --

This is a sick deal which Congress is permitting --

And Comcast makes $500 million -- if not much more -- every year from internet

pornography!! This isn't a company which should have anything to do with our "news."

14. They've given Rachel new offices
so hopefully that is a good sign for the liberal line-up they now have, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Howard Kurz isn't someone whose word I would take other than with a box of salt!

11. Keith was upstaging Brokaw.

What gave Keith the right to be less boring than Brokaw?????

Something

had to be

DONE

to protect Brokaw's status.

Keith should have known better than to try to be a legitimate public hero.

Looks like after the Comcast deal they'll get rid of Olbermann.

What's good for the corporations is good for

AMERICA.

17. We can see the tremendous response to Olberman, Maddow, Schultz ....
and the impact just this bit of liberalism has had on the right wing --

Beck down 39%? .... O'Reilly down -- all of them --

Agree that no one is liberal enough for me --

Ralph Nader should have his own show -- and LOVED his platform when he ran

-- unbelievable!!

Tried to copy it out at one time -- would love to find it again.

Tom Brokaw is just another colluding with power for his own benefit ---

maybe he never questions it -- maybe he actually believes it?

But always cracks to make us question that facade -- like Peter Jennings

death -- AFTER he hosted a show telling lies about JFK assassination/coup.

Dan Rather is another question --

15. K&R. Fascinating stuff, though the source isn't exactly unbiased.
Here's hoping that the gigantic show of support that KO got from his supporters will keep his job safe after the regime change, but I'm not holding my breath. He's apparently made some enemies along the way, in his own camp. :(

Edited on Mon Dec-20-10 02:27 AM by Azathoth
Olbermann seems to have burned every bridge he's ever crossed. He has apparently even managed to turn himself into a pariah at MSNBC, and that's really saying something considering the fact he single-handedly lifted the network out of obscurity and made it profitable.

Some people just aren't easy to work with on a regular basis, regardless of their political views.
