No More MSNBC
Because of financial reasons, I had to cut our budget considerably in an effort to save our home.

I reduced my Dish programming to "America's Top 120." This package does not include MSNBC. At first, I didn't think I would miss it. After all, Keith is gone. However, I do miss the other hosts.

Can anyone recommend an alternative to MSNBC? I find myself watching CNN only and I'm not altogether satisfied with their programming.

2. Dump all cable/dish and grab what you can on the net. For instance, here's MSNBC streaming:
Here, upper left corner. Not always on, but usually.

I gave up cable years ago. Just do without TV for six months and I doubt you'll go back. So much of cable/dish is crap. I can find more than enough interesting things streaming online and honestly, it makes me think and read more and not being such a passive consumer of information.

12. Question, please.
I've been pondering giving up my Uverse TV/Internet for some other internet service for some time. However, then there's the need for really good internet connection. What do you use? Before UVerse, I had TimeWarner Cable, and not pleased with it. I'm now spoiled to wireless, and it wasn't. Another thing, I can hear the constant wireless streaming in my house, and I'm worried that it might cause some physical harm. It's a very high frequency sound. Most of the time I can ignore it, but sometimes it really bothers me.

15. In my experience, wired DSL gives me the best experience. The way DSL works....
....you get your own dedicated bandwidth whereas on cable you share it with the rest of the neighborhood.

6. There's quite a club here....
Streaming links are available as posted above, but the operators often get hassled it seems, so it is best not to be too prolific with posting links across the internet. ;)

9. I don't intend to give up my cable
I enjoy the PM lineup at MSNBC and won't throw them under the bus. They have my support. Keith may not be on there but that was his choice and I am no way going to say good bye to those on our side who continue to fight for the people. You can do what you want but I will do what I want. Cenk can join Keith if he wants, there must be someone on the sidelines who would like to take his place.

11. Excuse me, but not everyone can afford cable (as per the OP)
Edited on Thu Feb-10-11 07:02 PM by hlthe2b
I certainly am not telling you what to do and I certainly do intend to watch Rachel and others as possible.

I was answering the original poster's questions as to what they could do, given extreme budgeting issues and their attempts to save their home--- to see MSNBC or similar.

Not everyone here can afford cable, Monique1. It is good for you that that is not a concern, but let's be just a little bit sensitive to those for whom it is. Ok?

13. Sorry hlthe2b
you were offended and to those who were. I will be very careful what I say from now on. I am known to be over sensitive to others but I guess many people are incorrect. Sorry, to those who I hurt.

14. I wondered if you'd missed the point of the OP....
and thought the post was just a "dump on MSNBC" thread....

Thanks for your response... I can see how that would have been likely, given recent discussions.

10. I haven't paid for cable in years
And I don't miss it one lick. Most of what I want to see I can find online. Why pay for cable when I was watching local morning news and PBS and local public broadcasting? I've saved thousands!

Let's see... my cable bill was $85 a month when I canceled seven years ago... $85 X 12 X 7 = $7140!!

Add that to the cigarettes I haven't purchased in the same time span and I SHOULD have some serious bank! But no... still... that may be one of the reasons I am scraping by ok. I even sprang for a mani-pedi this month! SPLURGE!!
