New York Democratic Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand vowed on Sunday to get a vote and final passage of a health bill for Sept. 11 first responders before Congress adjourns for the year.

(snip)
Instead of costing $7.4 billion, Gillibrand and Schumer said the measure's price tag would be reduced to $6.2 billion.

Their revised legislation would impose a new 2 percent fee on goods and services from firms in foreign countries that are not members of the Agreement on Government Procurement. Gillibrand said Saudi Arabia would be one of the countries in that category.

1. Good!
I heard Reid mention the bill today, but I am glad to hear that Shummer and Gillibrand said it would get a vote! I hope they nail the republicans on the "loophole" issue for those outsourcing jobs. If they want to put those people who will lose their loophole ahead of the people who put their life on the line on 9/11, then the country needs to know why they are doing it! This bill should be a no brainer, and any republican that speaks out against it needs to explain themselves. Kyl says it cost to much, but by closing the loophole it will pay for it. If he makes such a stupid statement, I the democrats bring that point to the attention of everybody!

2. I hope they make some noise on this, too. Jon Stewart has been more of a public fighter than
Democratic senators.
