2012:A new beginning
Most of us have heard about the coming apocalypse 12/21/2012. But, it isn't clear if it's supposed to be an anhialation of mankind or just a new beginning.

We are witnessing the revolution of the poor. It started in Egypt and has spread throughout the region. As more of these uprisings see success, we will continue to see oppressed people rising up against the rich rulers of the world. It was inevitable. It will happen here, too, it will just take a little longer for people to realize how bad they've been duped over the years. The poor only have power in numbers, and as more and more become destitute, those numbers will grow until they are a formidable force to be reckonned with.

I don't pretend to know what "a new beginning" will be like, but I am guessing it will be the result of economic uprising world-wide.
What the trigger is, or will be, or has been, remains to be seen. We may be seeing the beginning now with oppressed peoples rising up. If this thing goes global, we could see very tumultuous times ahead. And, that may not be a bad thing!

I'm not a doom and gloomer, but anyone with half a brain can see that eventually it will wind up in chaos.

2. When they realize they can't "buy" their way out........
...what will they do? I know there are some "apocalypse refuges" being built right now for the rich, but they will only house a few of the ultra-rich, and what skills will they have when the dust settles? They won't have the poor to do the dirty deeds for them.
Their money will be as worthless as they are. Karma!

3. I hope the trigger's not water
I'm horrified of when we start fighting for water, even more horrified of having to live without it. I'm trying to learn to use less, but scared anyway, real scared.

5. If it is, guess who'll get water?
Those with the most resources! Even the water issue is mingled together with the struggles of the poor against the rich. What would it take for the ultra-rich to give up their fortunes for the good of mankind? My guess? Death.

4. Patriarchy is the "bird with one wing" -- how else could it end up?
Capitalism is a ridiculous "King-of-the-Hill" system --

it's intended to move the wealth and natural resources of nations from the many to the few --

and it has done that quite successfully --

Patriarchy -- and its underpinning =

Orgnaized patriarchal religion -- and its economic invention =

Capitalism =

The Unholy Trinity

6. Like you, I don't pretend to know...
What is happening with mankind at this point in time, but I sense it is certainly something big. The revolution of the poor is an interesting concept and I can only hope that the tides continue until they reach the U.S. Citizens of the U.S. (en masse) are going to have to realize that everyone deserves those certain "inalienable rights" promised. Not just the wealthy.

In my mind, mankind is going to have to evolve beyond the need to control wealth and material things in order for it to continue to be successful on this planet. Mankind must learn that certain needs must be met for all before any can be "special".

8. Until the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few
We are there now! Without available affordable healthcare, access to clean drinking water, and the staples necessary for life, we cannot go forward. The rich don't think they have any incentive to equalize the playing field. They will find out.

7. TEOTWAWKI: The End of the World AS WE KNOW IT...
That's the key: "as we know it." Could be better, could be worse. All I know is, "as I know it" right now, it sucks giant stale Goo Goo Clusters.

Either way, in 675 days (but who's counting?) I plan to be making up a batch of popcorn to watch the show. Not much else to do about it, unless I'm somewhere in a crowd with a Guy Fawkes mask on, storming some gated community.

Edited on Tue Feb-15-11 11:15 AM by originalpckelly
I mean, seriously, what is this Y2K12?

This is a bunch of fucking bullshit!

It is impossible, because of the laws of physics, for someone to predict the future!

We complain about the Republicans and all their weird conspiracy theories, how is this any better?

12. You have an opinion......
...it has been noted. You need to work on your social skills a bit!

"It is impossible, because of the laws of physics, for someone to predict the future!"

Really? You might want to modify that statement. Physics is exactly what we use to predict the future of our planet.

13. Oh we do?
So we can predict everything that's going to happen?

Are you serious? Do you even comprehend the computing power needed to do such a thing?

I do not need to work on my social skills, I'm usually fairly nice to people. However, anymore, I'm starting to get a zero-tolerance policy for this kind of bullshit. I mean, seriously, do you actually believe this nonsense?

What I said was NOT an opinion, it was a fact.

What you have posted here is a mass delusion. It is nothing more than that.

11. How many apocalypses are we supposed to have?
There are just way too many calendars to keep up with these days! I think I need a decade-at-a-glance planner... B-)
