Kids who skip school are tracked by GPS
ANAHEIM – Frustrated by students habitually skipping class, police and school officials in Anaheim are turning to GPS tracking to ensure they come to class.

The Anaheim Union High School District is the first in California to test Global Positioning System technology as part of a six-week pilot program that began last week, officials said.

-----------------

Then, five times a day, they are required to enter a code that tracks their locations – as they leave for school, when they arrive at school, at lunchtime, when they leave school and at 8 p.m.

1. Double-plus ungood
What's next, tranquilizing them and tagging their ear?

Maybe instead of GPSing them, they should look into why those students feel education is pointless.

2. What happens if a student declines to participate?
Very few educrats react well to the word "no", especially coming from students or parents.

3. No kidding. Attendence is already taken in every class, if the kid is skipping class
chances are they're not going to be entering the code lol.

4. er... most schools have electronic grade books - attendance sent
per class. The tech exists to figure out if kids are skipping class.

This new tech - totally unnecessary for a school (to know "where" the student is located.)
