Eau Claire (WQOW) - Confidence in Governor Scott Walker's budget repair bill from local governments is fading fast. Wednesday, Eau Claire County joins the city, supporting public workers, and disagreeing with parts of the governor's budget plan.

Eau Claire County board members debated a resolution opposing Governor Walker's budget repair bill.

In a packed county board room, several teachers, union members, and supporters of the resolution spoke to the board, voicing their concerns. After some debate, the board approved the resolution Wednesday, sending a message to Governor Walker that his budget repair bill is not what Eau Claire County wants.

"The package that he's proposed, as I understand it, would affect about $21 million in the Eau Claire area alone, that would be out of state workers pockets, let alone, county municipal workers pockets," says Eau Claire County Board member John Manydeeds.

"This is not the right thing to do to state employees. The people who are doing crucial services for the citizens of the state. You should be thanking them and working with them," says board member Tami Schraufnagel, who drafted the resolution.
