Just saw the post by Skinner. We are almost to the current goal of 1000 donations.

Sad to say but I won't be able to donate until later this week, and many here may be in a similar situation.

But to those who have donated this drive, I wanted to say thanks.

And for those who could not donate this time, but who still reply or post interesting articles I also say thanks.

We might fight, disagree on some things, but still we have a nice place to do it. Maybe not the best place on the web for it, surely not the worst.

All in all I find this a good website where I can discuss issues in a generally civil manner with others. I try to donate when I can, and I am sure many others do as well - and I certainly appreciate the kindness of those who help keep this board online.

Not just Skinner and crew, but those of you whom I have never met. Chipping in a bit here and there. You keep this a place I can come to and rant, post stories to discuss, etc.

It is a pleasure to come here each day and just peruse the postings. I could not do that if it were not for those who contribute (both financially and via their time to find things to post) to make it happen.

I don't always reply or kick posts, but I can tell you that I read them. I don't turn on fox/cnn/msnbc in the mornings at work (or visit their websites) I come here to see the news. So many of you out there linking to a ton of stories. I can see it all in one swoop - and I hope in some small way I add to that for others.

You've lifted me up when I was down, as you have others. At times we can fight like crazy over the silliest of things, sometimes folks (myself included at the top here) just go off the deep end and need to rant about their situation or their day - and folks here make it better by just listening.

In this whole world wide web I have found a home here, as many of you have. And I for one am willing to support it any way I can. From posting new and interesting things to donating to keep it online.

Once more - Thanks to ALL of you for keeping this site online, interesting, and putting up with me.

Glad to see you here and on FB :) You are one of those people that keep me coming back.

DU, and folks like you (whether by phone/email/fb/here) have been a wonderful outlet for me in difficult times.

I could post anywhere on the net (and have posted elsewhere) but there is only one place I call home, and part of the reason why is folks like you who treat me not so much as some anonymous person out there but as a real person.

8. We can't all give money, we can't all be elloquent in posting but,

hopefully we can all do the best we can be at what we do. I'm reminded of the bible story of the widow's mite. Hopefully we all do the best we can with what we have.
