Well the bad section of the storm finally got this south
It is pouring out there. Driving from my sister's was painful... and I wish people realized if it is pouring you do not speed at 80....

Just a small rant.

Keep safe and dry people.

3. I was suposed to have dinner with sis
but she was running errands with kids.

I wanted to get home to be honest, and spend some time with my feathered kids hugging a hot cup of chocolate

6. Flash Flood WATCHES issued by NWS
My TV was interrupted by the Emergency Broadcast System announcing flash flood watches until at least 8:47 PM, and through the night for some areas.

Among areas expected to be hit hard in L.A. County are the Antelope, San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys.

8. Some areas were already getting 1 inch per hour
Our season norm (July 1 to date) is less than 3 inches TOTAL in L.A. County!

And we'd already nearly doubled our season norm by 4 PM yesterday. Some rainfall records dating back to the 1920's have already been shattered...

9. If I were still doing rescue
I would be checking rope systems about now...

I fear we will see many evacuations soon. Perhaps I should anyway and put the damn thing in the truck.

12. I think you're right
They evac'd 2000 residents in SE Kern Co., and there probably will be more in and below L.A. Co. burn areas, where they've been sandbagging like crazy. They're watching the ground saturation levels to gauge mudslide danger. I'm safe, except for a lot of street flooding we get with even a little rain, and that's nothing compared to what some areas have to worry about. Not to mention the people who have already died in traffic crashes.

10. What a bunch of whiners..
I live in Washington state, in a county that has floods in one form or another seemingly almost every year. This is from some Dec 2007, that's the exit I take off of I-5 to go to my house..

Tijuana floods leave 10 missing; at least 1 dead

SaiGon GP English - 11 month(s) ago readings

Rains have unleashed heavy flooding in parts of the Mexican border city of Tijuana, killing a 5-year-old girl and leaving at least 10 other people missing, officials said Thursday.

Storms also caused a plane to skid off the runway Thursday in the Tijuana International Airport. Nobody was hurt.

Four days of storms have swelled the Rio Tijuana, which reaches the United States, sending torrents of water into some neighborhoods of the city across the border from San Diego.

UPDATE: The Tijuana River Valley levy broke Thursday, forcing the evacuation of several residents and horses in the area. News 8's Phil Blauer is now reporting the water that crested the levee has now receded and the mandatory evacuations ordered earlier are now voluntary. Stay tuned to News 8 and cbs8.com for more information.

Round these parts, on BOTH sides of the border, people die.

So you think we are still whining?

14. Not in the cases that you cite here..
Floods can indeed be devastating, but when I see people complaining that they can't or are afraid to drive in the rain...I mean, c'mon.

17. I saw one yesterday
and to this veteran medic it was amongst the most impressive ones I've seen. Lord knows I responded to a few... my all time fav is still the Masserati at the botom of a canyon. It is not just the waste of money, but you really do not appreciate how much fiberglass breaks into pieces, little pieces.

16. I complain about people doing 80
when the SAFE speed is 30... it just adds to the pain in unnecessary deaths. That might be my inner Paramedic going... GUYS, GALS, slow down... we really don't want to dig you out of the wreckage.
