"Kill Capitalism" and busted ATM machines.

We arrived in Rome on the night of the protests which I completely missed because my jetlag forced me to sleep through all the noise (the protest was just blocks away). The funny thing was waking up later in the evening and searching for an ATM. We walked from bank to bank for a good 6 blocks before we found a machine that wasn't smashed in. The next day it was light enough to read the graffiti and see that the windows to the banks were all busted as well. "Kill Capitalism" and "Vampiriso" were some of the nicest things I could understand. Did you know that Italians are just as fond of the "F" word as we are? I had no idea. It appears Americans aren't the only ones angry at banks right now. Granted they're mad at other things too, mainly their government, but they expressed most of this anger at the banks.

My internet connection here is slow and iffy so I won't be able to post the pictures of the damage until I get back to the States. One of the ATM's was set on fire believe it or not. While I don't endorse vandalism, I must admit the damage made for a cool picture.

This is the first time I've been able to access DU since I've been here so I'm just now finding out that wikileaks is going after the banks next. Reading this puts a big smile on my face. Anyway, the anger is bubbling to the surface on this side of the world. I just wanted to quickly report what I've witnessed.

especially against those who keep us working and middle class down, banks and government buildings should be the targets. In the uk the kids attacked the treasury and supreme courts as well as the prince, in italy the banks all within the same week.

I saw it spray painted in Spain and France about a decade ago too.
