Are Employers Trying To Take Advantage Of The Bad Economy? |
|
You betcha. I found this as I was perusing craigslist for jobs.

You have got to be kidding! You expect to pay someone $7.50 for this job and you want them to have 4+ years of experience and a degree? Don't forget you get what you pay for. If you want someone with that qualification, pay them! You employers are so damn cheap, you want people to work exceptionally well but you don't want to pay them. I would never work for $7.50 per hour no matter how bad the economy is. Get a life!

I've known too many bookkeepers who supplemented their income illicitly.

There are as many embezzlement techniques as there are arrogant, dismissive, contemptuous and naive bosses.
But, even considering the jail time for the two specific examples I have in mind, it averaged out to a pretty good annual salary.

differently is naive and deluded. Just remember a post from last week where a DUer mentioned that his daughter, working on the same field as himself, is looking at jobs that PAYS LESS per hour than his job did decades ago. The dash toward a more-feudal society is gaining speed, in case you have not noticed.

employers who are whining about not being able to find "qualified" employees and whining that no one has a "work ethic" anymore and that, sniffle, is why, even though they hate to do so, they are forced to outsource to other countries, where the employees know their place and are grateful for any crumbs they receive while working long and hard hours (no sarcasm thingie should be needed here).

they get. If you are concerned about poor wages and outsourcing, there are plenty of companies that are keeping jobs right here in the grand ole USA and that pay excellent wages and benefits. Find them and patronize their products and services. CHANGE the dynamic, stop crying about how badly the american worker is getting screwed, then turning around and buying offshore manufactured drawers from Walmart. I used drawers as an example, because guess what? I just purchased high quality drawers for less money than I would have paid for them at Walmart, Men's Warehouse or Macy's, AND the drawers were manufactured on the mainland USA.

rate that will keep wages down.
Why would the applicant need a Florida Drivers License? At $7.50 an hour they ain't driving a car. If you live more than ten miles from work you're burning up 20% of your daily wage just getting to work and back. Another 25% deducted as taxes so the rich won't have to pay their fair share. That's actually a wage of about $4 an hour. I haven't calculated in the deduction for insurance, if it's offered. Of course, you could but private insurance at $1300 a month. Can't afford that? Go home and die.
And people wonder why we need unions. sigh. This is how they are going to treat you if they can get away with it.

You gotta wonder how long the American people are going to put up with this.
Pretty long, if last month's election is any indication . . . round and round and round we go until you voters actually buy a clue, I guess . . .
