People have died because of their affiliation with secrets website WikiLeaks, according to founder Julian Assange.

In a little-noticed interview with BBC's John Humphrys, Assange claimed that WikiLeaks is not just facing financial and legal attacks. People associated with the website have actually been assassinated, he said.

Unfortunately, the interviewer did not follow-up and Assange did not provide any evidence.

1. He has been making quite a few open ended statements - he needs
to be clearer with proof. That is what we expect to find on Wikileaks.

2. What if family, friends or colleagues of the assassinated are at risk?
You don't consider that very likely possibility--and you try to broaden the accusation to other statements, demanding "proof."

How about the US/UK conspiracy to silence this man and Wikileaks, by arresting him and shackling him on NO CHARGES AT ALL?

Talk about arbitrary, baseless, undemocratic, "Star Chamber" proceedings!

3. yes, that's horrendous, but he still shouldn't make
statements like this without providing some shred of evidence. I'm grateful for Wikileaks, but I'm coming to the conclusion that Assange doesn't know when to keep his trap shut.

4. Transcript: The Assange interview (BBC)
... Q: In that case you can catch the next plane back to Sweden.

JA: No, I do things according to proper process. I stayed in Sweden for five weeks to enable that proper process to occur. Proper process did not occur. I left as part of, you know, just my normal course of activity - no complaints from the Swedish government. I have an organisation to run. I have my people to defend. There are other things at stake here… There are other things at stake here. I have a serious brewing extradition case in relation to the United States. I have a serious organisation to run. People affiliated with our organisation have already been assassinated. My work is serious. I do not have to run off to random states simply because some prosecutor is abusing a process in those states ...

5. I don't doubt his words at all.....
we're dealing with Pure Evil...people who don't give a thought to humanity....Rove? Cheney? W? Please. I don't need proof....they started a war in a country based on lies. Give me a break. Killing people who are telling the Truth? Of course they would give the orders to do so.
