Not a surprise that our catholic hospital loses it status
I am ticked with this but I've called and called the diocese but they do not listen. This baby was going to die within a month - what? So the church says let the baby live for a month and let the mom die immediately. The catholic church has no understanding of family life. I was a catholic and a nun in the past - this is horrible.

1. What made you decide to leave the convent?
You did mention that you were a nun in the past life.

I disagree with the Catholic philosophy even though I have many Catholic friends, so I don't discuss Catholicism with them.

2. I left many years ago because I did not agree with the teachings
Edited on Tue Dec-21-10 05:45 PM by Monique1
It took me almost 10 years to make this decision. It also took me years after I left to decide not be be a catholic especially when we were given this new pope. I also heard a lot of rumbling in the church after it was elected, many opposed to him and they were seniors. At a luncheon I attended with seniors - many of the seniors said "God help the church".

3. Right on! Love 'em or leave 'em, know your Catholics . . .

This video pretty much describes why I don't recognize what has become of "my" church and I'm not the only one.

4. I remember calling my diocese asking when
they would come out against all the hate - they called me and said "they don't get involved in politics" - I think my mouth almost hit the floor.

6. That is SUCH a lie. And that's why I am a fallen Catholic. They ARE involved. They HELPED sell
the Invasion & Occupation of Iraq to the American people. It was a deal for political power that was supposed to give them the opportunity to appoint anti-Choice justices to SCOTUS (an opportunity that may yet work out for them if we blindly dump Obama, who is far from perfect, and succeed only in installing a Republican administration).

You may recall that the extremely wealthy Eric Prince, of Blackwater/Xe, is a Catholic convert. There are also at least two powerful and well financed Catholic PACS:

8. They're involved politically & they just don't want the laity to have any say in how they are involv
ed.

10. Did you ever live in Rhode Island...I am (was) a Catholic
and met a woman who had recently left the convent...but I still felt like I should revere her, like my nuns at school, though we were peers.

12. + 1
Wojtyła, and his Cheney, Ratzinger, along with EWTN and the other aiders and abetters of a muscular, proselytizing RCC, are changing the Church I knew into some kind of fundamentalist televangelist-led authoritarian nightmare.

5. I learned through personal experience that 2 people in your
life you do not want to be outspoken religiously are doctors or lawyers. It should be against the law in fact as it is a conflict of interest imo.

9. I have a great deal of respect
for many religious people, including many Catholics, but the Catholic church itself is nuts and a disgrace.

I'm trying to fit into some consistent model an organization that condones the sexual abuse of children and at the same time declares that a fetus is more important than an adult mother. My brain is about to explode.

11. Probably a good thing.
I've always held the opinion that medicine and superstition don't mix.
