I think the FCC ruling today is another big win for Obama.
I know that Senator Al Franken doesn't think it goes far enough, but anytime someone like Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson vows to overturn today's changes in the rules, I think it is a good day.

1. It certainly is a step in the right direction however
the carve out for wireless is just stupid. Sorry wireless isn't different than wired. If it isn't "neutral" for wired then it isn't neutral for wireless.

2. So you want your internet provider to charge you more money to go to
certain sites OR charge more money for certain access?

10. That won't happen because of these rules changes,
There are a few other things involved with these rules changes, but my ISP isn't going to charge me more money for internet access.

"My ISP"

This will not hurt you, so it's good for everyone. I completely understand now.

16. yes yes yes yes yes
just look at the upside, they will also charge u much less when u sparingly use it. My phone (just switched to a 69.99 sprint plan), electric, water companies chargers me per use and I have no problem with it. With this rule be prepare to see all the internet slowed down by high quality, HD porn (btw I have no problem with porn videos cos I have watched my fair share of it).

Btw what is stopping Comcast from doing whatever this bill was going to prevent the last 10yrs? could it be that competition from Cox, time warner, verzion etc is preventing them from doing so? Its always trouble tinkering with powerful mediums like internet not because I dont trust this administration but because the republican will tinker with it when their time comes.

12. In this case, Hutchinson was supportive of the big corporations,
So, the fact that the rules changes aren't perfect, doesn't alter my opinion of these changes.

11. No, you're out of line.
You can claim anything you want, but it doesn't make it so.

5. I guess if you see anything that favors a corporation a win
for Obama then you would be right.

However I stand with the people, not the corporations so I see it as a major defeat.

Wired is on the way out. One day Cable, DSL, and T1/3 hard line connections will go the way dial up has, as obsolete technology. Then we'll all get to pay more to look only at sponsored propaganda. Forgive me if I leave the pompoms in the closet for this one.

13. You're not thinking rationally, I don't live in the future.
These changes concern where we are now, here and now, not "one day" way off in the future.
Progess takes time in small steps to ensure we do this the right way.

I've already read some people's opinion that the entire internet was designed wrong and should be torn down and started all over.
Ain't gonna happen.

17. One day way off in the future is
likely right around the corner. 5 to 10 years is my guess.

Millions of people across the US have a choice between 2 internet types. Dial up or satellite. Both options suck. We'll see a cell based high speed net in our neck of the woods (6 months) long before we see cable or DSL available, if ever.

This progress is a large step in the wrong direction. It will hurt millions of users immediately with millions more hurt in the near future.

Not only has President Obama helped millions of people who are unemployed get their benefits extended next month, my taxes won't go up next year.

So, your statement that everyone else loses is just horsesh*t.

19. What a mess
Out in my sticks we can have dialup or dish. Both suck big time. What happened to asll that talk about broadband for everyone during the campaign? Zip nota out here and it ain't coming anytime soon. Billions wasted on pet projects and not a dime for average Americans. We need real change and better decisions.

21. It's a half-win.
One that, I'm sure, the Republicans will try to overturn in the next two years.
